History Established in 1921. It all began over 90 years ago, when a new Chevrolet cost $850, 40 mph was highway cruising speed, traffic jams and tailgating were unknown, and liquor was illegal. Not a bad year to start an automobile insurance company.

I wish I could do zero stars. This company is terrible. I had an accident in June which was my first accident in over 15 years ( only one other). And they paid the claim. However, 6 months later and after paying all premiums on time they dropped my coverage due to the accident. If you’re going to claim that the reason is the accident don’t sneakily collect premiums to further your business then drop the policy. Poor business practice. Do not do business with this company.

Pekin is HORRIBLE JR the adjuster assigned did not respond to me. Spent weeks waiting for a call or email back after filing the claim. The 2 times I was able to make contact with her she was dismissive and condescending. Just plain rude. We waited 22 days just to get an ok for the restoration company to come out to my home for the massive leak. I was abandoned with a vehicle that was deemed a total loss by an auto shop with no rental car or contact from pekin insurance for weeks. They eventually reached out to me, told me they were investigating if they were liable, and eventually came to the conclusion that they were liable for the damages. It has now been 28 days since my car was damaged, and I am just now getting information on how to get a rental car. Towing Claim: Called # on the website. Katie told me to send an email to the call center. I asked if I needed to fill out a claim form and she said, no, just send an email. Sent an email on June 12. As of June 19 no response. Called back and talked to Katie saying I had not received any confirmation. She asked for a claim #, which I was never given. Pekin's homeowner's claims department headed by Tom M*****, and rep Jessica R***** are preforming neglectful practices that ultimately are designed to DECLINE covered disasters that are covered under the policy. They will not answer any questions, no call back, give no instructions. They will NOT come to your home to perform they jobs related the claim. Then WHEN you send your pictures of the claim items, they decline the entire claim when they CLEARLY see damages in property; and then will cancel ALL policies upon its renew... read more

Absolutely horrible insurance company. Avoid at all costs. They took advantage of my 90 year-old father, undervaluing his totaled car by thousands of dollars. He got so tired of fighting with them that he just gave up. One example: they said his tires had 20% wear left on them, until I showed them a receipt that all four tired had been replaced the month before. Only then did they give him full value. They are crooks. He had his entire ankle rebuilt, two major surgeries, months in the hospital, and they only offered him 25K ... read more

I have been with pekin for 25 years accident free today they raised my premiums 20.5 percent 400.00 dollars a year MORE. When questioned about this they can not explain why other then we'll sometime rates change. This is not acceptable it amazes me that a company is willing to and WILL loose a 25 year good always payied customer because of their greed. The world has become a sad sad place.

Pekin switch prices around they tell you one price and charge you something else. They said $1000 deductible they charged me $2400 then when there was a loss they wouldn’t pay out.
