I reserved a car online from Payless Car Rental for the San Diego location. I showed up to get my car at this San Diego location and they told me they didn't have any cars available for me(even though I had paid for one), but that I could wait around for a few hours to see if anything came in. I believe they denied the discount as they ended up bringing out the same class that was reserved. As a courtesy a check has been mailed for $30 since the rental was prepaid.
I am dealing with the worst customer service from any company in my entire life. I rented a car from Dallas on 10/21/21. That same date I was hit by another driver and the rental had to be towed away. I contacted Payless from the scene of the accident and the police officer spoke to the rep giving him the information as to where the car would be towed and picked up. You will be given a vehicle you didn't request, charged numerous fees you were not quoted, then over charged when you return the vehicle as they do not give you a receipt, it will be emailed in 20 minutes. Then it never shows up.

Charged $250 fee a month later saying we left the car dirty and the person where we dropped it off at told they would clean it, the tires on the car that they gave us was a hazard, they were so worn down. Terrible company, do not use them.

We agree with this one star rating. We rented a car from Payless by the Denver airport from 9/30 to 10/4. We get a bill in the mail on 12/21 that we owe over $2000 in damages. We drove the car maybe 100 miles and did NO damage to it. It was in fair condition when we got it and was the same when we returned it. I will never use this company again. I booked a Payless mid-size car on ********* for 11/21. When I arrived at *********, he told me the car would have manual windows. I did not choose an economy car so this seemed very strange and he offered me another car. When we go to the charges, it was more than double what I paid to ********* and he told me that was only an ESTIMATE and it is in the agreement. Horrible Customer Service. Charged me $400 for "damage" to the passenger side vent. Pieces were damaged already. They allowed me to take the vehicle of property with low air pressure sensors on. They told me don't worry about it. Not a bid deal. The car was dirty. We found beer cans under the seat. This company is horrible. Stay far away.

Outrageous scam in San Juan, PR airport location. Refused to honor clearly listed price on the reservation, told us to take a hike or pay more. We will be filing an Attorney General complaint in PR and disputing the charge on our credit card. Bait and switch at its worst!

Horrible, Unsafe Experience 11/18/2021 I arrived at the MCI Payless Car rental after flying over a 1,000 miles with my daughter. I had a car reserved for pickup at 11:59 pm but the airport shuttle go us to the rental office at midnight. Here I was with my daughter in the middle of the night more than a 1,000 miles away from home in a state which I had never been to prior. There was no way to reach anyone at customer service.
