Beware! Beware! Picked up the old, janky car yesterday. As soon as we left the airport the check engine light came on. Called once we got to our destination and they said they'd note it on the account and they'd give us a replacement. Tried calling next day to schedule a swap, called around 8 am in the morning, no answer so left msg and said cars now not driveable, it died on us 3 times trying to back out of the driveway. Reps don't tell you about all the charges they will be charging you. Thousands of $ of hidden fees.

i rented a car at the airport in Atlanta GA. Made the mistake of paying for gas in advance because of the gas shortage. Little did i know it would become a drag down fight to get my $49 back. I bought the car back on a full tank. I was told if you returned on full the gas wouldn't be charge. It's day 2 and I've called twice. The 1st guy said youre not getting refunded period. First when we arrived in Las Vegas no one was even at the payless counter working. Then we get to the desk I prepaid through Expedia for the car was charged a 220$ deposit hold or whatever. Never got my deposit returned but today they just tried to charge my card 450$. Like ion know what kind of scam or games they playing but your not about to get me out of anymore money fr. I will never rent from Payless Car rentals in San Diego International Airport! They are liars and thieves. I rented a car and was charged upon return to fill up the gas tank for $76.00 for a Hyundai 4-door. They supposedly performed an investigation and it took over 2 months to get back with me. I submitted gas receipts and pictures and they still say that I did not returned the car filled with gas. I rented the car through the Alaskaair web site. No where did it say you could not enter Arizona and I rented the car to go there. Then they told me there was a mandatory replacement insurance that was required in the state of California. I live in California and have never really been told this before. $21 per day plus 38% tax! I said I would just go to another rental place and I was told they are so busy no one has any cars left. I went outside got on line and rented. Car from another car rental place. ONLY GETS 1 STAR, BECAUSE I HAVE TO!!! DO NOT RENT FROM AVIS, BUDGET, OR PAYMORE...OOPS PAYLESS. This was the worst car rental experience of my life and I rent a lot! First, pick up at LAX is a not so funny joke. 1 person for 3 car rental companies. I had to wait, then wait and wait some more as the poor employee tried to handle renters. So this is actually the second day we have had this car picked it up last night, the outside was absolutely dirty never washed, and the inside smelled mildewy and with a touch of nauseating smell that lingered we bought glade spray to no avail, spent 404$ plus a 200$ deposit had to get cleaning wipes because everything you touched was sticky as if it was never cleaned and every wipe we used came out dirty and black. I rented a car from Payless 3 weeks ago. It was a black 4 Runner SUV that was rented from Albuquerque, NM and returned to Phoenix, AZ. I picked up the vehicle at 7pm on February 20th. It was returned on the agreed upon date and time of February 27th at 10am at the Phoenix Sky Harbor Airport location. Within 12 hours of picking up the vehicle (the morning after pickup) the tire pressure light turned on and I called roadside assistance on February 21st.
