I attempted to rent a car on my recent trip to Orlando Florida. I was told that the car I reserved through Payless was confirmed by the representative I spoke with at the location. I booked the vehicle through Orbitz and the money was withdrawn from my account. When I got to the location I was informed that my credit score was too low to qualify for the deposit on my debit card. I have spoken to Orbitz twice on this matter and have been denied a credit card refund.
Rented a car in România - car did not work and had to return it. Avoid this company.
Good: The person at the counter was nice and very chatty. When I complained about being overcharged, they took off the extra fees. Bad: The car was a piece of ****. An extremely basic Nissan Versa with body damage and 80K miles that had basically no amenities. I don't know how old it was, but when I plugged my iPhone into the USB port (no Bluetooth) it identified it as an "iPod." The daily rental rate for my car is $60 but Payless Car rental is charging me $168 to extend my rental for a day + 4 hours. I missed my flight because I spent the day in the ER and can’t believe I have to spend an extra $100 over daily rental rate to extend it.

My wife and I have been renting vehicles all around the world for over 30 years. In this time we have always tried to return the vehicles in an as clean state as possible. We are sure that many are returned in a shocking state, but this time, in Kona, in May we we're charged $125 cleaning fee for 'Excessive Sand' in the vehicle. We don't argue that there was some sand on the floor mats, but in NO way was this excessive in our opinion? I rented a vehicle in Managua and had the worst experience ever. When I returned the vehicle I was told it needed to be washed. When I told them it didn’t say that in the contract he started to verbally insult me. It was completely ridiculous and unprofessional. He wanted cash. He was trying to extort money from me because I didn’t have it washed. I took a picture of his badge. However I don’t know where to file the proper complaint

I had prepaid my car through Travelocity. I also prepaid additional car insurance. When I arrived, the man at the desk asked for my card that the reservation was under. He then tells me because it is my birthday, that he was going to "give" me an upgrade, not charge me for an upgrade. Then while he is typing on the computer he mutters something about it only costing an additional $100. So I said no I am not paying for an upgrade, just give me the car that I already paid for. Payless Car Rental not only overcharged for the car rental it has also retained the cash deposit for an excessive period of time. Dealing with Payless Car Rental has been a very unfair, frustrating and the worse nightmare I’d ever encounter with many other car rental companies. I had a very poor experience with Payless Car Rental. I arrived in Las Vegas May 19, 2023, my wait at the rental car desk was an hour and a half. Once I got the car it smelled of urine. When I returned my car Sunday May 21st it was not the usual car rental return experience. Finally an attendant showed up and said to leave the keys in the car and we would get an email confirming the return of the car.
