Owners need to Sell – Better management and service would help this place. First generation treated there customers like family. The next generation show no love for the customers or the Good Help. We need a seafood rest. in Hollywood, and this could be the place with the right management.
great food better service – My girlfriend and I consider this "our restaurant" when we celebrate a special occasion. Friday we went there for valentines day and our anniversary, and had a great meal. I have read some reviews complaining about the service and we have always had great service. Tonight they went above and beyond, for I had a little accident with my to go order. Good Food and Value – Always a good chowder and seafood combo, which is the main reason to go there. Staff could be a little more attentive. Good Saturday spot for food and sporting event updates on the TV's.
Tasty little hideaway food spot – It's a hole in the wall, but the specialty chowder was fantastic. I need the HUGE bowl and the garlic bread next visit. The Larger shrimp salad, IS! The burgers look great. Our waitress was great, but I went to the bar to get another spoon and then some wine and was totally stunned at the treatment by one of them. FRESH. good food, just ignore the wait staff. Tatt next door while u wait. Clams by the bucket. Thanks Phil, for the treat!
Disappointing Experience – Not the Pals I remember. Used to eat there a lot in the 70s and 80s but how times have changed. Drove 12 miles after thinking how nice it would be to have some great seafood at Pals Shanty . The food is over priced and bland, $14.00 for the crab and cheese sandwich that had little crab no dressing and was dry. Waitresses went out of there way to be rude. I will never return!!!!!
Disappointing Food – I've eaten here for years but on the last visit it was clear that the food and quality was slipping. Ordered the seafood caeser salad and was very disappointed. The dressing was this thick stuff right out of the bottle and on the side. It was a travesty - a caeser salad is not supposed to be made like this. We had the sauteed oysters as an appetizer and they were these small, pitiful little things swimming in far too much garlic.
Disgusting and disappointing – I've lived in the neighborhood a few years and kept hearing about Pal's Shanty. I'm not curious anymore. We went on a Friday and it seeemd like a typical tavern in a vacation town. Kind of divey, but that's ok. The restaurant was so smoky (it is non smoking but there does not seem to be any ventilation in kitchen) that my eyes were watering and burning. Absolutely the Worst Service Ever! – From the moment we walked in and sat down, our waitress was extremely rude. No smile, no hello, not even a hint of a friendly tone. At my family's request I stayed for dinner. Unfortunately, her negative attitude and behavior did not improve during the meal, it, in fact, worsened. The overpriced but okay seafood dinner did not even come close to making up for the poor treatment my whole family received. I would not even recommend this "restaurant" to my enemies.
Get a great big bucket of steamed clams! – The first time I came to Pal's Shanty was on August 4, 1981. It was my birthday and I was 4 months pregnant. 21 years later I brought my son here for his 21st birthday. We love getting the big bucket of steamed clams! We'll be there tonight to celebrate my birthday. We come here for special occaisions!
