A bowl of Morning Grease please? – I took a few friends here and i was quite embarrassed after we finished the meal. I had, after all, raved about its food. Why did it taste so good before? Oh yeah, i was completely trashed the last time i visited. I'm not completely against this place b/c the prices are ok and the portions of food are generously served. I had the ham and eggs. I had to drink 3-4 sodas to wash down the salinity from the ham. The only thing that tasted good was the sourdough bread. I couldn't imagine someone ... read more
Best Breakfast in America – I've eating breakfast at the Pantry for the last 22 years. The place has a waiting line all the time. The bacon, thick sliced ham & thick sliced sourdough are the keys to the breakfast magic. I don't know what they do or how they do it, it's great. Sit at thecounter and watch the show. Most of the waiters are a little gruff. You better know what you want when they take your order or expect a bewildered look from your waiter. The dinner menu is good but not as popular as breakfast.
Great value - food sucks! – Okay, so the good news is you get a lot of food for the buck. The bad news is the food is absolutely horrible. If you really want a historical place to eat (with good food, including breakfast),go to Phillipe's!
for a great regular steak – After attending a Laker Game head over to the Pantry where they serve up a steak the way it should be served - allowing the flavor of the steak to speak for itself. The style of cooking allows the customer to decide how much salt, hot sauce, or whatever else you please to be added to the meat. Each time I've gone I have not been dissapointed. While I do not stray too much from the steak menu, the desserts are excellent also. For even more personal and quicker service try eating at the bar.
Best Breakfasts – I'm an L.A. native and I have no idea why people love this dump. This is one of the worst restaurants in the city. There are so many better places for a great breakfast that I can't believe this made it on a "best of" list.
**** Four Stars In A One Star Location – Breakfast, big and tasty. Plenty to eat, served in less than 10 minutes, fresh squeezed juice, all for under $10 for two people. Simply, amazing.
YEAH Pantry!! – I Love the pantry!! It is the only place that my boyfriend and I can stuff ourselves silly and drink all the coffee we can for under $10. $10 for the two of us. Have a # 3 with sourdough!!!
Food USA Style – I LOVE this place. the food is all American, simple, wholesome and there is alot of it, the price is right and the service quick. Parking across the street is $1.00 w/a validation from the cashier.
An Original – The Original Pantry is a true original. For dinner, the steaks are outstanding, (tenderloin is my favorite) as are the fried potatoes, and fresh bread and butter. For breakfast, I'm not usually a ham fan, but the ham omlette is the best ever. Bring a doggy-bag or plan on sharing, the portions are generous. Tasty treat with an unusual atmosphere. If they never close, when do they clean it?
