CONSISTANTLY GOOD, AMAZING PORTIONS!! – Breakfast served 24 hours. Try the Ham Steak and Eggs, Ham Steak's so large, Eggs have to go on top. Waiters are walking History Books. Most have worked there over eight years (the guys who's pictures are on the wall: 20- 30 years. 24 Oz. Rib Roast w/mashed potatos and gravy plus vegetable and salad (Slaw) for under $15.00? It's True.

An LA Classic? – Other than the fact that this joint has been around for years and that it is owned by former Mayor Riordan, I found nothing to recommend it. Lousy food, lousy service, and screamingly ugly decor does not a great meal make.

User review by chloephd – Great experience... though the beef tips were a little dry. Service was fantastic! Of course it was a Monday lunch hour so not many customers.

Waiting In Line Means NOTHING! – I went to breakfast here twice in the same week. Thursday morning: no wait, but the breakfast was below the expectations of this famous place. Omelet: greasy and flavorless. If you go here thinking that the food is going to blow your mind, it wont and the service is below average. Had to ask for orange juice four times. Sunday morning: I understand this is a landmark, so the waiting in line doesnt bother me. But getting passed over pisses me off. I went w/2 friends, and they wouldnt seat a pa... read more

If you don't like this place,YOU'VE GOT NO HEART! – It has been a joy for me to visit this restaurant for over 35 years now. Still great food (and lots of it), great service and a slice of Americana~LA style. Big deal, you wait in a line--you might meet somebody nice if you open you mouth & smile! Love the Rib Eye steak, but you can't beat the breakfast. Forget the diet going in and you'll leave happy & content.

It's Not the Ritz – But if you crave down-home simple fare, with limited emphasis on heart-healthy cooking, this might be the place for you. We had breakfast there as we've done for years - nothing has changed - the potatoes are a "classic" as is the sourdough toast - request it "toasted - dry" and add your own butter/jam instead of the fat they add when they grill the bread. Omelets, fried eggs, pancakes are all made to please. Try it, just don't tell your cardiologist!

Tried them at lunch – Went with some friends for lunch while attending a function at the nearby Convention Center. Had to wait a little while, but not an unreasonable amount of time. However, I did not enjoy the food or the service. Why would anyone pay $$ for this? Never again will I go here.

Great breakfast – I've been going to the Pantry since I was a child and it has not changed. I prefer breakfast over the other menus...they have the best potatoes and sourdough toast and the waiters know my family so we always get superb service. Another poster mentioned they do not make french toast or waffles--they will make french toast if you ask for it. You can also ask them to make your pancakes into mini pancakes if you have children or prefer them that way. An old time favorite for me and my family and we go about 2-3... read more

Straight up classic – You walk in at 4 am and feel like you are inside the movie "La Confidential". The place is just a classic. The steaks are awesome and very well priced. The service is awesome and you get served a LOT of food for your buck. Definately worth it if you visit LA.
