Terrible disabilty insurance. I have spen hours on the phone with them. at first there was a 7 week delay in getting payment. by the time they paid me it was time for a doctor's form and notes, so I didn't get paid for another week. I asked the claim manager several times on a recorded line, if I went back to work below 15 hours a week would they pay the difference in hours at 60%? she said yes, that my company would pay me at 100% for hours worked and NY life would pay the difference in hours up to 32 at 60%. Very poor service! I was out on STD for an accident and they recently denied an extension of my claim against my MD recommendation. My MD has sent them follow up documents and medical records and I called my claim manager ****** multiple times about the documents being sent and she never calls back and says she receives them. Today they updated on their portal no medical records received, follow up efforts stopped even thought I uploaded the documents myself in addition to my care team sending it. Very stressful company. This is the worst company I have ever had to deal with. There is no point in having a case manager when you cant even speak to them. I have left numerous voicemails and requested call backs to understand why my claim was denied when my doctors sent in the paper work. I was told it was cancelled somehow not by me then it was denied. The representatives are no help and never know what they are talking about. I have been told even if I escalate there is no guarantee I would get a call back so what is the poin.

I have a STD claim through my employer Navy ********************* Filing the initial claim I received great service. Filing my first extension was ok at best. I have been out if work since 11/28 with plantar fasciitis, tarsal tunnel, and tendinitis. I haven't been treated fair through whole process. My doctors have sent every paperwork they have asked for even doctors notes. I'm still out of work about to loose my job of 8 years because they fail to get it together. I should have switched to long term disability but have yet to do so. I'm poor and now have to pay my own premiums to hold from my job. I call n call and only get I'm still under review. Not receiving responses from from case manager after multiple voicemail messages. In addition, the claim manager assigned to me she call me once left a voicemail I returned her call but was never able to be in touch with her after multiple attempts.When your not able to speak with your case manager youre transferred over to representative which are very rude and give you different information each call and instead of clarify what going on with your case situation they just hang ** in your face or transfer you to a my casewor... read more
I have had a claim since February 8th. Numerous faxes from my doctor not received, doctor has shown proof it was sent. Claim is closed from delays and claim manager basically said I was fine according to doctor's notes. This is untrue and everything has been emailed again. People that are sick and awaiting a diagnosis shouldn't have to deal with the added stress.
They will not pay a claim on a long term care policy. They have all information in hand and just keep saying it's in review. Now they say it's back in review again.
