I had the bright idea or contacting NFCU to view options in 1st establishing a Equity Line of Credit. Without ever talking to anyone after weeks of trying to call and get in touch with the processor (I have the names of all parties involved) I received a letter telling me I had insufficient funds. (granted, during this time I had 2 missed calls from NFCU, but upon calling back and talking to operators, I was never able to speak directly to the processors for this action.) After 2-3 weeks, I called back and was able to speak ... read more
My spouse and I were preapproved for a home mortgage with NFCU. Our unpleasant experience, however was specific to Cathy S******** NFCU Mortgage Loan Officer II based in Fairfax, Virginia. Inaccessibility: Cathy was inaccessible (I called NFCU 1-888 line three separate times and had to have her supervisors tell her to contact us), and our real estate agent had to call her supervisors to have her call us back. High Interest Rate: Cathy tried to lock me in at a 4% interest rate (interest rates are in 3% range) without having t... read more
Recently had yet another horrible experience with the mortgage Dept. It's always a challenge when applying for a mortgage. Communication is little to none and transparency is absent. There is no real guidance available when discussing mortgage goals. I was with Navy Federal credit Union for 15 years and I was treated like a number to get out the way. Underwriting department can care less about your life. If you are trying to reach anyone to discuss any issues, good luck. There is as much as 3 people you go through before act... read more
We used navy federal for a home loan. Was assigned a loan officer out of charleston sc Meghan M**** the entire process was horrible except the initial loan approval. After you receive the approval its impossible to get in touch with lender. She never answers her phone or returns calls. We have been contacting them, our agent and title company lawyers and everyone is baffled by the lack of response. I have bought 5 homes and have never had a lender be so unresponsive and slow. They take forever to respond and return informati... read more
Navy Federal is good in so many ways until you need an issue resolved. I was recently charged for a 4 night stay at a hotel when I only stayed 1 night because of the condition of hotel. I stayed the one night bc it was late when we got to the hotel. Well I was eventually charged and I notified the desk clerk who notified the manager of the issue. They argreed they would refund my money but the GM decided that he wasn't going to. So I then when to the bank and advised them of what happened. After their non-investigation they ... read more
Ive been with navy fed for over 9 years and have NEVER had an issue with them. I made ONE mistake on my account and now they're making my life a living hell. My credit card account is way overdue , partly on my negligence but now they keep taking the money out of my other accounts to put towards my credit card. Now they're messing with my livelihood as they are my main bank. I almost want to sue but I know that is not the right way to go. Navy Federal is on thin ice with me now. I will NOT be banking with them anymore as soo... read more
Garbage... I have had this bank for almost 9 years and the one time I dispute a charge I keep getting the run around. I had a transaction declined but somehow Navy Federal won't give me my money back asking me documentation that doesn't exist for declined transactions. Chase has been a much better bank and their service makes NFCU's pale in comparison. I'm leaving this atrocious bank.
If I could give it a zero I would! I cannot believe the way they have treated my widowed mother and the family as we try to do business in regards to her finances. I have been given full privileges on her behalf after a long and protracted runaround by all of your departments. For me to list everything that you have done to complicate our lives and cause such stress would required me several hours to document. My parents are/were 88 and have been lifelong members while I was a 30 year member. If you treat longtime clients li... read more
If you are a customer wishing to get a home loan through them DO NOT DO IT! The loan office Robin S****** and the customer service representative Makenzie are rude and do not return calls. We got in contact with them and from the start they were delayed, so delayed the seller decided to go with another offer after we had to extend escrow 2 times. Never work with Robin or Navy Federal if you really want the house
