I recently got off the phone with Navy Fed loan processors. I though it would be a great time to lower my interest rates. Their website states loans for as low as 2.25%. I talked about a 30 year refinance and a 15 years refinance. Then they dropped a bombshell on me. I have been a member for over 30 years, have checking accounts, savings, money market and certificates. They told me that since I did not get my original loan with them they would penalize me almost 1%. The rate they said I could get was 2.6% but with my penaliz... read more

Back in February, I applied for a conventional loan with Navy Federal to buy an investment property in a different state. Since I am active duty Navy and am within 12 months of my ETS, I was surprised when my loan officer told me that I could still get the loan without a job offer. Fast forward to today, May 5th. After months of submitting documents repeatedly, getting emails and calls ignored, and waiting 3-4+ days for any type of response whenever i attempt contact, I am now told that I can't get the loan until I submit a ... read more

*RACIAL PROFILED* My father is a Veteran. He opened an account with NFCU about 2 years ago. He had an active checking account with monthly direct deposits, and a active savings account. He applied for a credit card with NFCU and was approved for a $10,000 credit limit. He used the card a few times, not for big purchases and NFCU placed a fraud alert on the card. He called to have it removed, verified EVERY transaction as his own and the representative said she would remove the block. His daughter in law, which is my wife, wh... read more

I'll keep this short and to the point. NFCU has one of the rudest and unprofessional customer service systems EVER! From employees to management. They refuse to provide their name after being incredibly disrespectful and unprofessional. Management seems to not have a clue. This is not the appropriate time to be openly rude to customers, as no time is actually, and expect future business. I AM DONE WITH NFCU ND TAKING MY MONEY TO USAA!

I have banked with NF for years. I recently applied to get an auto refinance loan. Obviously I already was approved by another company for the vehicle. I’ve been nervy about the recent virus outbreak and thought it wise to refinance and lower my rate. I’d been getting mailings from them repeatedly forever on car loans and refinancing anyway. I applied for the loan and it said processing and that I’d hear from an agent. I never did, but then received just an email saying I was denied for the refinance. I’m so glad they brag o... read more

Navy Federal has no clue how to be a mortgage lender. They have rude, unprofessional, and untrained loan processors and supervisors. They didn’t even know what paperwork they needed to close on a house! We filed complaint after complaint, and the company did not even care. Absolutely the worst banking institution I have ever dealt with. The branches are great, but the loan employees are terrible!

Applied for a VA Interest Rate Reduction Refinance Loan. The initial paperwork provided by Navy Federal did not indicate this. Additionally, upon reaching out to the mortgage processor I was told to hold of on any documents until she had reviewed the application. No word for 12 days after the application was submitted. Reached out again and 3 days later was told that interest rates had increased and that i would not be able to meet the requirements for the VA IRRRL. This is the second time dealing with the mortgage processin... read more

Navy Federal motto “members are our mission” is a farce. For anyone finding themselves in an emergency and needing help, don’t depend on Navy Federal. I am a retired government employee with over 30 yrs service and 800+ credit rating and was subjected to numerous questions and ridiculous conditions when applying for an emergency loan. I ultimately said I was not interested in their loan because the lengthy process was wasting my time and only added frustration to my existing situation. Everyone I talked to in Navy Federal wa... read more
