Hello, i have been working on my job now for a few months. I usually go to one branch that is closer to my job to cash my check but this particular Friday I decided to go to the one closer to my house since I was off of work. Let me first mention that each site is well over 30 mins from my home because in my area there are no Navy Federal's to be found. I moved to Richmond from the Hampton Roads are where there were plenty, so the fact that I have been here for 5 years and still bank with them should speak for itself. Anyhow... read more

Applied for a mortgage loan with them. I was approved, and made an offer on a house. After the offer was accepted, and the closing date was set, and all paperwork was turned in, Navy Federal waited until one week before the closing date to submit for the appraisal. Since the appraisal has to be done two weeks before closing, the date had to be delayed. Not only that, but they lied and tried to make it sound as though the delay was my fault, then they switched to blaming the VA. To top it all off, they claimed to have lowe... read more

I have banked with Navy Federal Credir Union for 25+ years. I have never had a bounced check. I filed for bankruptcy and had a credit card with the bank; however, they kept my accounts open. Well, now they are floating my payroll checks. I can see if they place a two business day hold on a personal check to make sure it clears, but my check clearly identifies my employer and that it is a payroll check. They’re just giving me a hard time for having filed for bankruptcy. Pretty petty when you think the largest employer in San ... read more

Multiple occasions NFCU has told me I have sufficient permissions, via verbal authorization of account holder or power of attorney, to assist a service member during deployment. On each occasion I was told I had absolutely no ability to help that service member, or that my permissions were so limited I couldn't assist him during deployment with the few permissions I did have with a POA drawn up by the Navy itself. On each occasion, NFCU employees have lied directly to me, also an account holder, and to the service member on ... read more

NavyFed is the ONLY company that will not honor SCRA benefits while the service member incurred debt WHILE ACTIVE DUTY. Even though you cannot become a member of the bank unless a service member. Capital One, USAA, Discover, AmEx all go above and beyond to honor service members and lower as well as REIMBURSE for overcharged interest rates above 6%, but not Navy Federal. They only do the bare minimum which is terrible and disrespectful seeing that they are primarily a military member credit union. They will be losing our supp... read more

I have had the worst experience at Navy Federal with customer Service follow-up regarding my VA home loan. I can't say all the employees are bad because I have spoken to some real customer service driven individuals at Navy Federal. But loan officer Melissa Simpson-Scott is not one of these people. Her follow up and response time is awful.

I want to take a moment to thank Dale from NFCU's Fraud Prevention Department for all of his help and guidance last month. One February evening I was playing with my phone and received two e-mails from NFCU - one notifying me that my passwords had been changed and another stating that my personal contact information had been changed. I immediately called NFCU to let them know that I had NOT made any changes to my accounts. I as put through to the Fraud Prevention Department and spoke to Dale. He verified that someone had acc... read more
