In an ideal world, every neighborhood would have a tavern like this. Set in a lovely old two-story home on a quiet tree-lined street, its two wood-paneled bars brim with hospitality, and its two dining rooms, an intimate non-smoking room with bare stone walls and a larger room designed like an indoor gazebo serve first-rate meals. The bars offer a buffet from 5pm-7pm weekdays and the kitchen's seafood specialties, such as Mahi-mahi topped with Lump Crab meat are both creative and flavorful.

Bartender was great !! But can't say the same for the food . Clean the grease sometimes . Fried oyster should come out golden brown not black .
Twice my brother patronized this restaurant and both times he was asked to wipe down the table. Dressed in Khakis and a tee mistaken for a waiter. I won't eat there,

I haven't been back to the Tavern in many years, I was a former bartender there over 20 years ago but moved away. When a random Tuesday night visit with my cousin happened to be in Cross Keys I knew we had to stop in. That random Tuesday night turned into a cherished memory, in part because of the wonderful staff at the Tavern. Kristy and Katie were crazy good, exceptional, behind the bar, and the expected "bar food" was so much more than that, it was delicious!! Outstanding service and the food has always been great. From having a nice brunch with misses upstairs on the deck during the summer to having a group get together of 10 or more....just outstanding. Plus, the restaurant looks better than ever.
So about #LastNight.... I invited a few girlfriends to have one last drink with me before the year ended. I had a 30 confirm, So I called a few hours ahead of time to inform the staff. 30 people I said...7pm I said. Well over 100 showed up, and the staff held it down for us. I Was TOTALLY unhappy with the service last night!!! Had been there before and hadn't experienced anything like that before. It took an hour before receiving our appetizers and then the waitress were confused to who ordered what. Bringing out wrong foods to the table. Also took 1 1/2 hrs before serving entrees.... TOTALLY UNORGANIZED!! A waitress by the name "Alexis" or " Alexia was very UNPROFESSIONAL!!! This will NOT be a revisit! My tip in order to get a GREAT rating...
