Mt. Washington Tavern

4.0

About this business

In an ideal world, every neighborhood would have a tavern like this. Set in a lovely old two-story home on a quiet tree-lined street, its two wood-paneled bars brim with hospitality, and its two dining rooms, an intimate non-smoking room with bare stone walls and a larger room designed like an indoor gazebo serve first-rate meals. The bars offer a buffet from 5pm-7pm weekdays and the kitchen's seafood specialties, such as Mahi-mahi topped with Lump Crab meat are both creative and flavorful.

Quick drinks, nice people. I went to my friend Corinne's Birthday last night and had a great time in the Sky Bar!

Eating dinner at the Mt. Washington Tavern with Judith and Richard was a fun evening out. The food was so good, and the chicken had good taste. Tried a new wine for me, and that went well. Good time had by all. Loved the historic looking buildings in the area.

Came for brunch and was sadly disappointed a poached egg is not hard boiled. 3 dishes didn't hit the mark. Bloody Mary's not in a pint glass? And CHARGED for ones we never got! I keep wanting to like this place but I am continually let down.

Had a fun time at the Sky Bar. Just had a couple of draught beers and sat outside on a nice spring evening. Great spot in historic eclectic Mt. Washington.

First time there and sat at the downstairs bar. Great bartender (gray hair) who explained all the menus perfectly...had 6 yummy oysters, 6 HUGE steamed shrimp with drawn butter, and the beat Brussels sprouts ever...had to bring half home! Service was super fast with great selection of beers...will definitely be back!!!!

I really liked the atmosphere and the hostess was very accommodating. Our waiter, however, pocketed our change from the bill. My shrimp and grits was made with bbq sauce and wasn't very good, in my opinion. I probably won't go back.
