Pearl Maddox started Mrs. Maddox Cake Shop in 1928. Her son, Jack Still, took over the bakery in Detroit, along with his wife, Marian, and daughters, Susan, Marian and Sharon. In 1973, he hired Tim Shaberly as a dishwasher and to take deliveries. Tim continued to work as a baker for Sue and Marian when they took over the bakery. I agree with the reviews listed below. Very disappointed. I ordered tea sandwiches for a special occasion, poor-some soggy, some dry. I ordered the meatless this time and was told over the phone that they included the egg salad and carrot, which is a family favorite. I opened the box a few minutes ago only to find no egg and carrot. There is an up charge for the meatless as well. I do have to say this will be my last visit.
Have used these guys for years without issue until this year. Customer service was rude insulting and not even ready to help or get a manager when my wife wanted to complain. She was too busy to talk to a potential customer. Check the ratings before you use them an hope you get the staff on a good day.
Great customer service!!!! Staff was extremely helpful and determined to make everything perfect with our order. We had a tasting and the cake and fillings were outstanding!! Cannot wait for the finished product on our wedding day !
Wonderful service! I have ordered my wedding cake from them and Porscha worked with me on every detail. She was so helpful and kind!! The flavors here are absolutely amazing as well!
I ordered a cake for my son's second birthday. When I placed the order I confirmed the spelling. My father picked it up and delivered it. It wasn't until we were about to sing Happy Birthday that I noticed his name was spelled wrong. His name is Lucas and the spelled it Lucus. I was very irritated by this mistake. Make sure you check your order throughly!
The cakes may taste great, but the customer service is AWFUL. They do not write up the orders properly, don't provide you with a copy and when you call to confirm or to make changes they don't update their paperwork and then blame it on you. I spoke with Porcha 3 times and finally could not handle her unprofessional and rude ways. When I asked to talk to the owner I was told she wasn't there, but then had a man come out to talk to me and said he was the owner. I'm so disappointed in not only the cake but our experience was horrible today. Been coming here for years but won't be back so disgusted with this.
