Pearl Maddox started Mrs. Maddox Cake Shop in 1928. Her son, Jack Still, took over the bakery in Detroit, along with his wife, Marian, and daughters, Susan, Marian and Sharon. In 1973, he hired Tim Shaberly as a dishwasher and to take deliveries. Tim continued to work as a baker for Sue and Marian when they took over the bakery. Horrible customer service. I ordered a cake on 11/23 -- it was NOT what I ordered I contacted the store. They asked that I send them a pic. I did. Since then it has been a downhill experience. Countless phone calls, promises of returned phone calls. Trying to hunt someone down for assistance and finally was just basically called a liar over the phone. I have been a customer for several years-- looks like I will have to find a new bakery.
I've been buying Mrs. Maddox cakes for years and if her shop was closer to my home Id be buying a lot more instead of just for special occasions. They made our wedding cake (W14) and it remains a family favorite for all weddings, white cake, buttercream frosting, lemon filling.
Keep driving past this PLACE ! THEY ARE BY FAR THE WORST AT TAKING CARE OF BUISNESS....
