Pearl Maddox started Mrs. Maddox Cake Shop in 1928. Her son, Jack Still, took over the bakery in Detroit, along with his wife, Marian, and daughters, Susan, Marian and Sharon. In 1973, he hired Tim Shaberly as a dishwasher and to take deliveries. Tim continued to work as a baker for Sue and Marian when they took over the bakery. I saw this beautiful cake in Brides magazine 1980. the cake shop with 7 Mile Road in Detroit at that time.. I visited the shop and I couldn't believe that I was going to get the cake for my wedding that was in the Brides magazine Well, Ms. Maddox catered my wedding 1980...4 tier wedding cake....two cut and decorated sheet cakes and hors d'oeuvres and finger sandwiches for 250 people....everything was fabulous! I have faithful customer all these years...
Love, love, loved our cake for a birthday party over the weekend (Frozen theme). Everyone asked where we bought it. You guys do awesome work!! Keep it up :)
I went to 4 different bakeries to order ny wedding cake and I was so impressed with Mrs. Maddox Cakes because their staff if professional and helpful. The young lady saved me money and ordered exactly what I wanted. She sat down with my fiance and I for over an hour and she made me the happiest bride. She helped me incorporate my wedding colors, ordered my specific designed tier cake, showed me how to save money and did it with smiles.
Amazing job on the cake for our wedding. The colors and design were exactly as we envisioned. Thanks again!
