Pearl Maddox started Mrs. Maddox Cake Shop in 1928. Her son, Jack Still, took over the bakery in Detroit, along with his wife, Marian, and daughters, Susan, Marian and Sharon. In 1973, he hired Tim Shaberly as a dishwasher and to take deliveries. Tim continued to work as a baker for Sue and Marian when they took over the bakery. Best tasting cake ever! I had a 2 tier cake at my sons bday party, and was disappointed that I didnt have any left over because, almost everyone went back for seconds! The flavor of the cake is to die for, cherry chip is my favorite..... the frosting even tastes good, and I never eat the frosting on cakes.... and best of all, they are artists! Amazing! Used them for my wedding 8 years ago, and have returned every year for my sons bday cakes!
Okay. First of all I am literally HORRIFIED that a business is satisfied serving such AWFUL excuses for a cake. I was frantic and on the run and passed by the bakery ... I had to grab desserts for grandpas birthday ... the selection was a disgrace and I was nervous to serve food from a place I had never been. I took one bite and literally BURST OUT IN TEARS. In a day and age of “Customer Service” being primary, this bakery did not care about the fact that I was not a satisfied customer!!! My birthday is today and I was told that I would have to buy ANOTHER CAKE to replace the one I ALREADY PAID FOR! I will NEVER RETURN!

Worst service customer ever! I asked for a quotation since one week ago, they replied saying they would call me to tell me the cost and nothing! I have never ordered a cake from here and will never do it!
I have been calling for over a week and a half to speak to the owner because my wedding was on July 22 and was supposed to be delivered between 9-11 in the morning and I called them at 11:30 to ask where my cake was and they had forgotten about me. Mind you my wedding was 45 minutes away from the shop. My cake was eventually delivered in the middle of my ceremony which means I had family members that had to miss it so that they could go out to meet the delivery person.
