Pearl Maddox started Mrs. Maddox Cake Shop in 1928. Her son, Jack Still, took over the bakery in Detroit, along with his wife, Marian, and daughters, Susan, Marian and Sharon. In 1973, he hired Tim Shaberly as a dishwasher and to take deliveries. Tim continued to work as a baker for Sue and Marian when they took over the bakery. So thankful to Mrs. Maddox Cakes for delivering on a custom cake order for my mother in law’s 60th birthday banquet! Never met you, never set foot in the store but WOW did they ever deliver on an exquisitely designed cake and seven dozen petit fours! So memorable and delicious. Thank you endlessly!
I have gotten several birthday cakes and cupcakes from Mrs. Maddox Cakes and am never disappointed, the cake is always moist and delicious, I receive compliments from everybody who tries them and the art work is phenomenal. Most recently, I had an Elsa and Anna cake made and the detail with frosting is top notch!!
This is a great bakery! Its hard to find a good bakery these days. I've been going here for over twenty years now.
I hosted a tea party at my home. I bought tea sandwiches and petit fours from Mrs. Maddox. They were delicious. There were no leftovers. I picked the order up the night before the party. They were finishing the order as I walked into the shop. They were well packaged and fresh as could be in the next day. Thank you so much.

My daughter liked the sample and she ordered the cake for their baby shower. I don’t know why she brought two forks to the table for two bites of cake. I just let my daughter have the two bites because it was for their baby shower. In the future don’t be so stingy with your cake testing. After all her cake was is $75dollars. You couldn’t at least give her a slice of cake? 🤔
Where do I start? First, the quality of the cake is not only exceptional, but tastes better than homemade (super soft, rich and flavorful), and the layers hold up beautifully. Their artistic talent in baking is unparalleled. They always have such unique ideas and designs.I can’t wait to order our next cake soon! So happy!
