Not Worth the Pesos – Like other popular Mexican restaurants in L.A. (El Cholo), Mexico City is all about the scene--and not the food. Some dishes are adequate (enchiladas, especially), but on the whole, the food is less than stellar. But it's about the scene anyway. On any given night, you're almost guaranteed to see someone famous--or at least someone who thinks they're famous.
Good for Groups – Yes, it's noisy, crowded and can be a real scene. But that's part of the fun. Mexico City has always been a surefire spot to go for dinner with a group of friends gearing up for a night on the town. The food is better than what you'll find at most "authentic" Mexican restaurants (anything here with mole sauce is a good bet, and the spinach enchiladas are light, fresh and flavorful), and the drinks are good and stiff.
