About this business
When Cedar Rapids needed hospital beds in 1900, the Sisters of Mercy established Mercy Hospital in a small house on Third Avenue and Sixth Street Southeast. The 15-bed house was soon too small, so the Sisters of Mercy looked for money and a site to build a larger hospital. They went from parish to parish and to nearby towns. In 1903, they were able to construct a 100-bed hospital at Mercy's present location. I cannot say enough great things about this place. The Pediatric office is wonderful. They really care about their patients. When we had an unexpected trip to the ER, the nurses and the PA who saw us were great!!
Mercy is a wonderful blessed place to spend your time if you are in need of health medical issues. They are very thoroughly helpful compassionate. Individual. I trust my life my, health to the people of Mercy Hospital!
They took amazing care of my daughter in the NICU when she came prematurely. Couldn't have asked for a better staff.
Yesterday, our grandson Colin was at school showing a friend how to swing a golf club. Colin was accidently hit with the golf club next to his eye, shattering the nose bone and eye socket. All our family here was beside him for the 12 hours that followed! In surgery, the doctor removed crushed bone that was pushed into his sinus cavity, put in three titanium plates, sewed him up, all in all, 2.5 hrs surgery...he is doing so much better! The care I received at Mercy and the interaction of staff and nurses was phenomenal.
Even tho I worked for ten years at St. Lukes many moons ago, I gotta tell you there is a difference when you go to Mercy. I've had several surgeries at Mercy & radiation, I couldn't have been happier w/ the Mercy touch. There Mercy Home Health Care is also up & beyond.....we are so fortunate to have such an excellent hospital in CR.
My family has always went to Mercy. ...Love that hospital always good people to answer all your questions n very caring!!!
