When Cedar Rapids needed hospital beds in 1900, the Sisters of Mercy established Mercy Hospital in a small house on Third Avenue and Sixth Street Southeast. The 15-bed house was soon too small, so the Sisters of Mercy looked for money and a site to build a larger hospital. They went from parish to parish and to nearby towns. In 1903, they were able to construct a 100-bed hospital at Mercy's present location. I have not heard positive things. I only recommend the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics.
Worst hospital ever!!!!!!!!
Am actually here right now in the ER with my mother. This is our 1st time here and will be the last. There is ZERO communication between any of the staff, the nurse (CJ) is condescending and arrogant, needless to say we will NEVER come back. My 70-year old mother deserves better treatment.

The worst experience at a hospital ever!
Mercy has always been my hospital. I had numerous surgeries and 3 children there. Many trips to Emergency Room. Only one time I was I at other hospital and that was not my choice. My experience was not good. I feel at home at Mercy.
Treated very well, they have been very patient and thorough. Actually with dietary help and very sound medical tips helped me turn my health around.
