When Cedar Rapids needed hospital beds in 1900, the Sisters of Mercy established Mercy Hospital in a small house on Third Avenue and Sixth Street Southeast. The 15-bed house was soon too small, so the Sisters of Mercy looked for money and a site to build a larger hospital. They went from parish to parish and to nearby towns. In 1903, they were able to construct a 100-bed hospital at Mercy's present location. There are no words to express the wonderful experience I had this week at Mercy. I had a hysterectomy by Dr. Bourgeous, an incredible man with a fantastic bed side manner. From the gals at PASE all the way to the surgery team and each nurse and tech I came across, it was top notch care hands down. The 24/7 room service with a menu better than most restaurants, I truly hate to go home today! Kudos to the Mercy team!

We got stuck in the elevator! I hear many people have been also stuck. Maybe you should work on that.
