The MAT has been an Uptown hotspot for over a decade. In 2009, it was bought by Kidd Kraddick Morning Show co-host Big Al Mack. Come hang with Al at The MAT! Great Food. If fun, drinks and karaoke is your thing. This place is awesome. And yes Big Al's just like you would imagine, just a great guy! Food was ok but we didn't plan to eat there. I would go back anytime
The food was horrible. The staff were nice and the building is awesome. My wife had chicken and I had a burger. We ended up swapping meals because neither were happy with what we had ordered. I left the chicken on the plate, it had a funky taste to it. Big Als balls are pretty awesome though. I would suggest this place if you want to go have a few drinks and appetizers. Eat dinner or lunch elsewhere before you head to this place.
We went to celebrate me getting my 2nd Master's degree. We had such a blast! We called to reserve a big table and everyone including Big Al were very accommodating. The atmosphere was fun and relaxing, the drinks were awesome, and the food was good! Big Al was there and very personable. We will definitely be going back. Such a great way to celebrate!
Our first time there was on sat. My hubs and I had a blast! The food that was being served around us looked and smelled really good. Next time we will definitely have to order some food! Great place!

Well... I guess if your going to only drink then you'll be fine. But if you want to order food at 6p on a Friday when the building is almost empty, make sure you aren't on a timeline or don't like hot meals and like over-cooked/burnt food or better yet like to food to just come out totally wrong then you'll be happy. You will wait 45 mins to get par bar food that is really overpriced i.e. $9 garden salad. You'll also get a waitresses that has to run errands with 3 other waitresses to get alcohol because they rant out... Ha!!... read more

The area is awesome. The food was merely meh. The waitress was sweet and nice but told us numerous times that she had only been working there an hour and wasn't sure about items on the menu. The food was not hot when we got it. The drinks were overpriced too. I will not be back, for sure.
