The MAT has been an Uptown hotspot for over a decade. In 2009, it was bought by Kidd Kraddick Morning Show co-host Big Al Mack. Come hang with Al at The MAT! Great Food. We had such a great time at the MAT. Our server and bartender were awesome. We will be back for karaoke for sure!
Been to the mat several times. It's a lot of fun. The drinks are strong,the wait staff are always polite and attentive. The dj's are very good. The crowd is alive and sing along to karaoke. My go to place after bar hopping. Big al is always walking around interacting with patrons. One of the best bars on McKinney ave.
Went last night to watch the fight. Was supposed to watch it at the seagoville location but plans changed and we were told we had to go watch the fight at the McKinney location. Big Al set us up in a charter bus to take us all to the McKinney location which was a sweet deal. He really took care of us. Last week was my first time there and I had a blast. The karaoke was amazing and the people were great. Very good atmosphere.
Great atmosphere!! Food was good and so was our bartender (can't remember his name but he wore white rimmed glasses) really great place to hang out. Will definitely be back next time were in Dallas. Curtis was a big hit for us also :-)
Bartender was cool, so he gets you the 3 stars. Would've been two more if I could have sang one song. :/ Shouldn't have to pay the Karaoke DJ to sing when you're new. Waited over an hour. The bartender, not sure his name, was cool. Had an intro song waiting for me when I got to the bar and gave me an entrance.
Great atmosphere but the food was below average. Good place to have drinks but maybe not dinner.
Made a spontaneous trip to Dallas from Louisiana with the specific goal of going to The MAT and meeting Big Al. He was so down to earth and nice. Liz was our bartender and she was great! Good food and great atmosphere. Already planning a return trip as soon as I get the chance.
We went yesterday (Saturday) for lunch, food was good, beer was the typical $6, if it wasn't for Big Al being there and actually taking a few minutes to say hi, it would just be your average bar. Sorry
