SKIP IT! – If you LOVE the Marina and enjoy a side of insults with your meal, you will dig Mamacita. However, if you are looking for a quality experience without the attitude, I implore you to try any one of San Francisco's more worthy dining options. Mamacita is over-rated, the management is low-class, and the restaurant/bar is too loud and too crowded. We made a reservation 3 weeks in advance and called 2 times to confirm but that didn't stop the hostess from giving our table away to another party shortly before we arrived... read more

WOW – Been looking for a restaurant like this for years...amazing variations on traditional mexican food, vibrant atmosphere...and margaritas that are all fresh...I ate there last night and had one of my best dining experiences in san francisco. Highly recommended.

Lively place – I've been here twice now and will definitely be back. The waiters/waitresses are always so nice so service is a plus. My one, big complaint is their host does not do a good job; it's like we have a table, no we don't, ah, yes there's a table available. So I will say reservations are good to have. I have had their halibut entree, over priced. I've had their tamales, scallops plate, guacamole, fish tacos and ahi tuna....all good! Like my title states, the place is popular right now, so it can get loud. But all i... read more

What An Experience! – From the potent margaritas to the mouthwatering food this addition to the marina is exceptional. After two margaritas and an order of carnitas tacos I was full and well on my way to a saucy evening. The restaurant was deafening but if I wanted a quiet evening I would have stayed home with my cat Taco. I can't wait to go back.

Is Mamacita Spanish for Bad Service? – Boy oh boy was the service terrible here. Apparently the chef comes from Slanted Door and the decor seems to come from somewhere in the South Bay Area, but the service is straight from France... too much attitude, slow service, and a terrible hostess. You'd think they would get the hostess right, at least. We also saw a lot of folks there who were real posers... probably from the South Bay as well... Oh well, too bad Marimba was replaced with this place... San Francisco and the Marina w... read more

Mexican cuisine goes upscale at this stylish Marina cantina. – Two towering palm trees wrapped in twinkling white lights beckon diners into this signless eatery. Inside, the cabana-chic decor is at once striking and festive. Black-and-white photography and beautiful glass vases filled with long-stemmed flowers adorn the baby blue walls, while starburst-shaped amber chandeliers hang from the ceiling. Hints of Mexican influence include cacti perched around the kitchen's adobe walls, rough-hewn, dark wooden tables, and a weathe... read more

excellent food, good margaritas – I was impressed by Mamacita. I expected good food, but for the price it was excellent. The fish dishes were well prepared and light for a Mexican restaurant, the traditional dish was very flavorful. We had the ceviche, chile relleno and meatballs for appetizers, salmon, halibut, chicken and enchiladas for a main dish. The chicken was the only dish I would not order again, the fish was worth a trip back I wish the tequila list was more robust, but it was well selected. A wider (and better) se... read more

not real mexican, MARINA mexican... – please. obviously none of the reviewers singing the praises of mamacita have ever actually eaten mexican and/or latin food before. this food is ok, not great, and just admit it... it's all about the scene here. you'll love mamacita if you want to see and be seen. (one of the reviewers even says, "it's always filled with good looking people!"... what does that have to do with the quality of your food?!) there is a lot of great latin food in san francisco... if you want real latin food.
