Average – I was told Mamacita's is the best mexican food restaurant in San Francisco, so my husband and I decided to try it one Saturday night without reservations, that was our first mistake. Reservations are definitely a necessity, we waited about an hour and fifteen minutes for a table. The hostesses were snooty and unhelpful when we would check in on our wait time. Just fabulous.... – The food is amazing (especially the ceviche), the margaritas are yummy, and it always is such a fun atmosphere. My girlfriends and I have been to a variety of places, but this is definitely one of our favorites. It's a perfect place to get together after work or on the weekends to catch up have a couple of drinks and dinner; especially when it's hot and the windows are open.
Not the worth it Mexican – I went to this place as it got so many great reviews. It definitely did not live up to it's reputation. It was vastly overpriced, the food wasn't that great, it was so loud that I could not carry on a conversation across the table, my drink tasted watered down and they didn't even provide chips and salsa. This place is only for those who want to look good in a good looking place. There is much better Mexican food available than this overpriced overimpressed with itself place.
Great ambience, hip crowds but ok food – My decision to go back to a restaurant largely depends on how they make the simplest things well...and Mamacita didn't quite deliver on that front with the guacamole. The guac was "ok", but the rest of the food, including the mahi mahi tacos were a little better than average, but not outstanding. By a distance, the best Mexican in the City – Amazing food, wonderful drinks, breezy and cool interior and more beautiful people than you could shake a stick at. Can't recommend it highly enough.
ehhhh...semi-great – after all the hype, I thought I'd try this place out....couple of disappointments 1. loud! the place was very noisy. Definitely best Mexican – All the food we had was pretty good. The calamari, beef tacos and guacamole were definitely memorable. Staff was friendly, water service was efficient and the pomegranate margaritas are worth the trip if you aren't hungry.
Simply Amazing..... – I adore this place...the food is amazing, which is most important, and the rest is even better. The energy is great, positive and fun. My boyfriend and I came across it be chance, andd now I make us go once a month (from Walnut Creek), we actually took a group of 12 visiting from Chicago there for their first visit to S.F., along with other wonderful local places..... all I have to say is try it... you will love it. I promise....
