What a disapopintment! – I had been to this place a few times and never thought it was terribly impressive. One time, we had to wait about an hour for our food and the waiter kept waiving us off. But the last time I was there was by far the worst. One of my friends and I both ordered the monte cristo for lunch. When they finally came, we realized that my sandwich was all cheese and my friend's was all meat...they had put the wrong sides of bread together! We told the waiter, who wasn't terribly accomodating. They agreed to m... read more
Does not live up to the hype... – We had a reservation but we were told to stand outside on the sidewalk to wait--for 45 minutes. It was cold and windy, and we were told to "keep checking back in" to see when we would be seated. Our group of four was crammed into tiny tables. We barely had room for our drinks and the bread basket, let alone the food. The food was--frankly--forgettable. The WORST part of the evening was that the music was SO loud, after attempting to communicate by elaborate hand signals, our group finally ag... read more
Lively decor...average food – Luna Park was on my list of eats ever since it opened. However, when I finally dined there, I didn't find it too impressive. The decor is amazing, I love the paintings and art. Nonetheless, the food was only 'OK'. Nothing special, nothing spectacular. My bf's steak/french fries were so salty, he could barely eat them. As well, the appetizer poke was very untraditional and not what I would have expected of a poke dish. Wouldn't really crave to come back. I will say, though, their mojitos are exce... read more
this is my new favorite restaurant. when i arrived, it wasn't too packed and we got to sit in a booth. the ambience was nice, music was great and it was clean! the staff was friendly and the food was YUMMY! i must say that when i looked at the menu, it thought i was going to eat some "fancy food". after one bite of the ravioli, i was in heaven! the drinks were awesome, too. i highly recommend this restaurant. i will be back soon...
Trendy, Bustling, No Brainer – It's simple: The food is good, the staff is friendly and it's nice and dark inside. Yes, it's crowded as hell and yes, the average age is probably 25 on a weekend evening. So if you don't like being around animated 20-somethings and you're out to have a romantic dinner or serious, quiet conversation, this is NOT the spot for you. If you feel like mixing it up a bit, you're in luck. I'm a pretty cynical 30-something myself, and must admit that it was fun having the bartender convince me I should... read more
Thoroughly decent but nothing spectacular. – I liked it, I didn't love it. Burger was good, as was a scrambled egg concoction at brunch, but stay away from the steamed mussels. Everything else I've had has been fine and reasonably priced, but nothing to write home about. High ceilings and open air style make the place seem kind of sterile with no discernible character. I recommend for brunch, but for anything else there are definitely better places to go.
This Place is Always Fabulous – I've never had a bad experience here. The food is always good and the menu offers fabulous combinations of enticing flavors. If you love flavor and find yourself tired of many restaurants this is the place to try. There country pan fried trout with tomato and fennel salad is fabulous and their mojitos are the best in town. The ambience is intimate despite the fact the place is always packed and you can actually hear your friends and have a conversation. Try the apple fondue appetizer, it's sma... read more
What do you expect? – I've wanted to go here for a while now, I've been twice. What are people expecting? In regards to the bad reviews, people expect too much. It's not a 5 star, super posh, trendy restaurant. The food, ambience, and wait staff reminds me of a cool bar and grill. With an LA twist? Not much steak and fries (like a typical bar and grill), but the food is creative and fun. I didn't expect the wait staff to be there every moment I needed them, but there were plenty of people to flag down and a manager walking a... read more
User review by hazel123 – This restaurant is always very crowded, so definitely make reservations if you can. Despite the small tables, its a fun place to go with a group. The service is good, as is the food - though I would stay away from the s'mores - very disappointing. But the apple and carmel fondue is great, as are the drinks.
