I had a horrible experience with Loan Depot. It is my opinion that they have quite the scam going on here. Let me explain, they send someone they say is doing an appraisal. They show up and snap pictures and do measurements (all of about 5 minutes) and then turn all of that into an appraiser that is IN ANOTHER STATE. That appraiser does not know our local market. We recently applied for a home equity loan. It appeared we were approved. I questioned the cost of the home appraisal and it was immediately dropped $50. After submitting additional information I was informed of the closing cost. I found them to be be very expensive. I asked the Neil D****, Senior Mortgage Banker to email me the details. I have been reading the reviews and i am up in the air on this. In the original discussion with the loan officer, I was told that I would have the appraraisal fee waived ( I had originally asked for the loan origination fee to be waived, he said it wouod be reduced-wasn't -but ok). I had a good experience with the notary and the credit card payoffs, but when I got a new card statement I was charged the appraisal fee. Loandepot got the job done for me , even after some obstacles with previous lender . I'm very pleased with everything .

We just closed on our home refi. Fantastic experience all around. We paid off our second mtg and still save $350.00 per month without adding to the term of our loan. So in 14 months we will owe only our house pmt and be done with that in about 15 years. All because of the lower interest rates. They are my hero's!
Exceeded expectations
I was working with loan depot to refinance my home. The loan officer that I was working with quoted me great numbers. I was very happy until i realized she quoted the numbers based on my house appraising for $20k more than what I even thought on the high side of things. After this "honest mistake" my rates were much higher and I wouldn't have wanted the loan anyway. Very dishonest and will try to get you any way they can.

One of the worst loan experiences I have ever had. The Loan Analyst was arrogant and totally lacking any common sense. Her supervisor was just as bad and tried to keep me from using a title company of my choosing.
