Things started out a little rough in the ED and on the unit when my sister was admitted in DKA after she had started chemo a couple days earlier. She was in severe acidosis, and we felt that we weren't getting the care she needed. At around 8 pm, the physician came in, ordered new tests, labs and had her transferred to the ICU.
