Opened in the summer of 2006 to replace the aging University Hall, the University of Virginia now holds its basketball games, concerts and other events in this 16,000 seat arena. Built almost entirely from a private donation, it takes its name from a former alumni, and not the Revolutionary War naval hero. It shouldn't be hard for fans to find, since it's right across the street from the old facility.

The facility and staff are actually pretty good, but the absolute lack of traffic management combined with poor handling of parking makes this event center a no-go in the future. If you must go here, plan on arriving at least an hour before the show, but it would be better to just go see the event somewhere else.
Traffic management around the arena is BAD.
Very nice and accommodating.
Sitting trying to get into the arena. We prepaid for parking and they said lots is full. We are missing the show . The traffic is awful and be people directing it don’t know what they are doing. There are a lot of people in this line who are missing the show they paid for
The place is really big and nice, lots of helpful people to get you to where you need to go. Plenty of bathrooms!
Great entertainers and friendly staff. Leaving was a breeze
Absolutely nightmare traffic and parking. If they would open the parking lots to the general public, the traffic situation would ease as well.
a good place and easy to get out of
I’m not the expert that can recommend a fix, but getting into this place for a large event is nothing shy of a nightmare. Missed 45 mins of the event due to traffic/parking (with a prepaid parking pass) This may very well be my last attendance at this arena. Ridiculous!!
