John Paul Jones Arena

About this business

Opened in the summer of 2006 to replace the aging University Hall, the University of Virginia now holds its basketball games, concerts and other events in this 16,000 seat arena. Built almost entirely from a private donation, it takes its name from a former alumni, and not the Revolutionary War naval hero. It shouldn't be hard for fans to find, since it's right across the street from the old facility.

Great sound in this arena. Excellent venue for the type of show we saw. 👍

The staff at JPJ are great. The R.M.C. Staff were very unfriendly and unhelpful. We followed the “Stay in the left lane for Cash parking” only to be waved around in one huge circle. No one could ever point out WHERE we were supposed to go. Secondly, we were there to see KISS. My son made me an adorable homemade purse that was clear on 3 sides. We had to pitch it because “it wasn’t clear all the way around”. Also, we missed most of David Lee Roth as the line to go through security was so long.... The band was awesome and did ... read more

Always had a good experience here. The only complaint I have had is for David Lee Roth and Kiss. Ticket time says show starts at 7:30 we were waiting in line outside they weren't letting people in yet. We just had got through security and DLR started to play. A lot of people were still trying to come in. They should have opened the gates a lot earlier so everyone could get in before the show started. Other than this experience it's been great there. The staff and security has always been helpful and real friendly. I would de... read more

It was really cool but they wouldn’t let us keep the caps to our water bottles and then made us pour our water in plastic cups and that was irritating because so many spills happened and could’ve been avoided if we had our water bottles with caps. Other than that everything was awesome
