Joining the choir here to say never renting from Hertz again. Customer service is truly awful. Got charged an extra $600 because of a mistake they made in the billing and it took multiple calls to the customer service line to get credited the correct amount and dealing with very rude staff. Got additional charges from Hertz after the fact that they said wasn't recorded on their end, ended up reporting it as fraud on my credit card.
I have a gold membership and Hertz confirmed my reservation for a full size sedan from Fort Lauderdale for 5 days. When I arrived at Fort Lauderdale there was a long line of angry Gold club members and no cars. Cars were brought up slowly one by one. The only car available for me was a sub-compact. I took it but returned it early because I did not feel safe driving such a small car in bad weather. Hertz has refused to give me a refund for early return or small car. They promised to call me but never did.<br />
Worst car rental company ever. Nobody answers at any location. Goes directly to 800 number asking to press 1 then press another number then another. Trying to change drop off after 2 hrs of dialing number got nothing. Hit all the appropriate numbers to change drop off but when finally got someone they tell me "oh this is to extend rental need to call ****# really thats the number I called. Then she just hung up. I made a reservation and received a confirmation email that the rental vehicle was ready for pick up at 11:30am at Hertz on 14219 Western Avenue South Suite A, GARDENA, CA, 90249. I arrived at the location, and right away knew the service was going to be TERRIBLE, one of the receptionist was yelling at a customer over the phone and making snarky remarks. A ZERO rating is warranted. I rented a small ***** SUV in ******* for a visit to the ************ on May 8 2022. I returned the vehicle on May 15. Upon check-in the Hertz staff person verified that the vehicle was returned in the condition in which it was rented. MORE THAN FIVE MONTHS LATER, WITH NO NOTIFICATION FROM HERTZ, an additional charge of $440.59 appeared on my credit card. These people are a bunch of criminals. I rented a vehicle through price line and when I picked up the vehicle I had to pay an additional amount for security deposit, which I thought was in the price that I paid online. I extended their service for a few more days and requested a change in drop off location, they charged me an arm and a leg just to change the location and after returning the vehicle I had to call them regarding the refunding of my security deposit. I rented a car at the Punta Gorda airport on Nov 9. The warning light went on the next day, and then the low oil warning. We called customer service and they told us we could either get the oil changed or return it for a new car. So we drove an hour to the Punta Gorda airport to get a new car the next day. For our inconvenience, the employee told me they would give a $50 discount and not be charged for fuel on the return. Another worker heard the conversation. Via their app, I reserved a Large SUV from Hertz at Greenville Spartanburg Airport (GSP) for $165.49/day for 3 days. At GSP, the Hertz agent said no Large SUVs were available, and provided a minivan. When I inquired about the rate difference, the desk attendant said that the minivan “is more expensive”. I took the minivan based on that representation. Hertz charged us $1000.00 more then what our total for the rental was supposed to be. We rented a vehicle through AAA which offered a discount through Hertz. Our total for the rental agreement was $813.93 and they ended up charging our credit card $1894.15. This company is a bunch of crooks. Tried speaking with customer service and get B.S. about they cant do anything and submit a claim and theyll get back to us. This has been going on for almost 2 months now and still dont get any response.
