We rented a car and when we took it back they said it smelled like smoke. They took my money for a reservation at a pickup location that did not have the vehicle when I found this out and tried to switch locations to one that didn't have the vehicle they wanted me to pay a second rental rather than transfer the current reservation to a new location. They say this is their process to keep the money on the first rental and refund that and 7 to 10 business days and charge you for a new rental so in essence there's keeping your money and using it for those 7 to 10 business days.
My wife and I rented a hertz vehicle. It broke down on the second day. No help was sent. After we had it towed where they specified, we waited for a cab that they never sent for us. Lastly, a week later she was informed the car was stolen. Then she was informed that was an accident. They are dealing with a law suit now but I wonder how many other people were affected and never acknowledged in the law suit.
Soo similar to other people, we tried to rent a car on friday morning, but they "didn't have any compact cars", which is fine, but they just HAPPEN to have one car left, a mustang. The price jumped from 91$ to 400$. ARE YOU KIDDING ME? So, they told us to call support like always and find a car at another place. They had one at the airport for $200+. STAY AWAY! Hertz Car Rental - ********************************* scammed my husband and me out of $228. On 2/4/23, we arrived to the Hertz TLH counter on time and had an older woman (not sure of her name) help us get our rental car. We signed for the rental car, had a great trip, and returned it on 2/6/23.A couple days later, we notice an additional $228 charge on our credit card for 4 different types of insurance that had been added without our verbal consent. We arrived at 1:00 am with paid reservation in hand to be told that there weren't any cars available. After waiting an hour, we were offered a *****. We didn't know how to drive one and spent over 3 hours in a span of 4 days charging the car, but it was better than being stuck without anything 19 hours from home. I received several bad surprises after renting a car from Hertz. I was told that hidden somewhere in the many pages of fine print in the rental agreement, that that there would be a "Convenience Fee" every time you travel through a toll booth. So on a 2 month rental I ended up paying around $200 of "Convenience Fees". These fees are not convenient in any way for me. I paid Hertz for the toll and they can add $5.00 every time! Terrible customer service. I reserved a car well in advance and locked in the rate. The reservation was not only not honored, they made me stand round for 3 hours in the airport while they worked on it. My wife was also on the phone with Hertz hotline trying to resolve the issue. We wasted a total of 6 manhours dealing with this just to rent a car. They eventually rented me a car but for only half my trip and at a higher rate than I had locked in! I rented a car rental on Priceline.com and I paid that up front, which was $203.27. So, when I got to the airport, and I went to get my car the Hertz employee asked me if I wanted the extra insurance, I said NO and I declined it and initialed. Asked about the *** I said I'd fill up before I returned the car. He told me there would be a $200.00 hold on my credit card and it would be removed upon return of the car.
