Why I could not give 0 start? This company is completely a scam. I rented a car from ********** ** location, waited there about 2 hours to pick up the car, when I drove out the lot about 3 miles out, the check engine light was on, they told me it was okay to drive with a check engine light on, not only that, the gas went from a full tank to half tank within 3 miles, for safety, I went to 3 different location trying to exchange to another car, they all told me they did not have anything available, I had to go to the airport a... read more

I used Hertz at San Antonio International Airport in July 2023. They are dishonest and have very poor customer service. They overcharged me and refused to give a refund of the amount. The universal response from all 5 different customer service & billing department employees is “we’re sorry for the misunderstanding.”

I booked and paid my car rental weeks in advance only to find out the Hertz location that was supposed to have my car has been closed for over a year now!! Now I'm out of a Car that I planned to take so I could attend a family members Wedding! I chose Hertz because you were supposed to be REPUTABLE??? Tried getting someone on the phone was virtually impossible and when I did the result was: No car that I paid for, and a refund that could take up to 10 Working Days to return to my account!!?? Do not use hertz. In ****** over 2 hours in line to get car. Only 1 person at counter and system issues meant every customers credit card was rejected.

I prepaid for a 12 person passenger van 6 weeks prior to the rental to take elderly parents and grand children on a vacation. An hour before I was to pick up the van I was told they didn't have it and they were going to refund me. I asked if I could get a mini van or suburban even though they only held 7 passangers. I was told by the manager I would have to pay $2000 more for that rental. Hertz absolutely ruined our trip.

Do NOT rent a car from Hertz! I reserved a 7 passenger SUV with them and paid for the rental 3 months prior to the rental. I received confirmation texts up until 1 hour prior to picking up the car when they sent another text stating they did not have the car I reserved. No other could be found. Multiple customer service representatives put me on hold and then disconnected the phone. The local branch where I was to pick up the car basically stated that there was nothing they could do. I had a 4 day rental from Hertz. When I picked up the car I declined their all inclusive toll option through PlatePass for $14.99/day. During my rental I took one toll, on the very last day of my rental, on my way to return the vehicle. This meant that I unknowingly "opted in" to the PlatePass option on the road. A week or two after my rental i received and additional bill from Hertz and PlatePass for $59.96. I prepaid for a car to ensure my rental would be ready and available for the 10-day rental. When I arrived the place was packed and the last 7-passenger vehicle was rented to the lady in front of me (even though I prepaid). They wanted to give me a Dodge Durango but after inspection it could not be cleaned as it had dog p*** in it. I was then forced to upgrade to a Suburban as there were no other 7 passenger vehicles on the lot for an additional $90.00. Never rent from HERTZ! We rented a car, asked to add insurance. Our card was charged-pending. Drive out the gate and the guy said there was a mistake but he would take care of it (unknown to us he cancelled the insurance!). 2 nights later, on vacation, stuck at 10 pm due to flat. Call roadside for help-no one will help, they say we dont have insurance-we have to call our own AAA at 3 am. Called beginning at 6am to get different car or find someone to help-no one.
