I rented from Hertz online with what was reserved as the manager special for $136 per day. My flight was delayed so when I called they had already given my car away. The Webster TX location would not rebook me so I went online and booked the manager special at 8am the next morning. First I was told that the car would not be ready until 10am. Then they called me 30 minutes later and told me the only car they had available was a Silverado and that it would be $25 more a day. Nightmare experience with 3 cars in row with issues! Beware: they DO NOT rent out reliable cars. With the last car from PBI airport, I was stranded on the side of the road for 1.5 hours waiting for roadside service-they never came or called. I'm a female driving alone on the highway at night to get back home to NY from FL. I was coming home from my fathers funeral, as if I needed so much unnecessary hassle, I felt completely unsafe and stressed being stranded then left in the cold.. I will never return to the Hertz at 1969 Covington Pike in Memphis, TN. When I called to reserve a car they told me that they had no idea how many cars would be available that day. When I questioned this and asked for some explanation, she finally said, with a disgusted tone, that she would make sure I had a car that day. When I arrived I did not know what to expect. Had existing confirmation for car rental on 03/26 for a total cost of $509 for 7days. Gold member, Hertz declined to lease me a car stating " you are on do not rent list". Hertz declined to explain the reason why. They provided me with the number that I had to contact to get my question answered. Number -it is only a recording and none answers this number. Hertz rental car is the poorest excuse of how a business should operate. HORIBLE EXPERIENCE. I had booked a car through Priceline for pickup in AZ, March, 2021. When I arrived at the Mesa airport, come to find out the car was at a location approx 1 hour drive away. Don't usually complain if the service and the car is okay, but we rented a car in West Palm Beach for a week and the car was in poor shape and the gas gage did not work and brakes were scraping in metal. In addition got our bill and when we clearly stated we did not want insurance, it showed up on our final bill. Called the Hertz hot line and they said we signed for the insurance when we clearly would not. These business practices are what drove them into the ditch to begin with. Reserved an eight seat mini van for my daughters wedding by speaking with one of their National operators. I needed the van to transport the grandmas and other elderly adults that had no other way to travel to the event. A few days before the event I called the local Hertz to confirm my reservation because It was imperative to have this vehicle. I have been renting cars from Hertz for years but recently had the most terrible experience. I had a reservation for a minivan and arrived to the counter at 10 PM with my four young children. They did not have any minivans nor any SUVs and they put us into tiny cars that were damaged. I had to drive to a different airport the next day to obtain a minivan and was told once again they don't have any. Jean is the counter was nice enough to somehow find me a minivan. Horrible customer service. Never use hertz it's a scam you reserve a vehicle then get to the pick up location and no vehicle but then they offer you the vehicle you reserved at a different location for a much high price ridiculous and they should be driven out of business
