I rented a car at Hertz Mesa Gateway Airport in Mesa, Arizona. The tire had a leak, spent money to fill tire at air pump. Spent 2.5 hours on phone trying to reach a person at Roadside Assistance who then told me to take car to tire repair shop for repair - why would I spent another 3+ hours at a tire shop when I rented this car? Strong armed Hertz into sending mobile tire repair to my Air BnB. Repair attempted. Next day low tire PSI, spent more money to add more air. Hertz Rental Car thinks they are the mafia. Collision center informs me my car is ready 2 days early. Fantastic. Try to return rental, Hertz tells me I am obligated to full fill my contract I am not permitted to return the car early. Upon return, tried to charge me every ancillary fee possible when car was returned to them in better condition then when I picked it up. Ditto the review right before mine from Rich H. HERTZ SERVICE IS HORRIBLE HORRIBLE HORRIBLE!!! I PRE-PAID AND RESERVED A LUXURY SUV FOR A LONG TRIP WHERE I WOULD NEED TO KEEP CARGO COOL INSIDE THE SUV. WHEN I WENT TO PICK UP THE PRE-PAID SUV THERE WAS NO VEHICLE AVAILABLE!! AFTER I TOLD THE CLERK HOW DESPERATE I WAS SHE OFFERED ME A PICK UP TRUCK! SO ALL THE THOUSANDS OF DOLLARS WORTH OF CARGO GOT RUINED IN THE HEAT DURING THIS TRIP!! We picked up a Jeep Compass upon arrival at Ft. Lauderdale airport. It was dirty as there were fingerprints and body oils on the doors and media panel. It had a broken center console and the suspension was terrible. Our rental receipt showed extra charges for LIS and road side assistance which we specifically declined. A charge of $199 was added noting it was "accepted." We returned the car the next day per your corporate headquarters. Hertz let us reserve a car days in advance and when we got there kept my wife in line wanting tons of info that was none of their business including our safe travels account as we fly in Kona Hawaii 2 weeks before. We had to jump thru hoops just to get onto the island I wasn't aware our medical info was any of Hertz business. Then they would not rent us the car with the same card we put into the rental app a week before and had also used to rent 2 cars with budget and Turo no prob.Both were easy excellent companies nice peop... read more

Hertz officially lost a customer today. So last week, I reserved a car for Labor Day weekend (Because of course the farther out you do your reservation, the better the price.) However realizing that I didn't have enough on my credit card, we used my girlfriends credit card to pay for it. On 8/16/2021, I rented a Nissan Murano through my car insurance company, State Farm, using an approved claim for car rental. on 8/30/2021 I had to return the vehicle due to dysfunctional WiFi charger and a crack on the lower right side of the wind shield. BEWARE!!! Counter agents are adding additional coverages, such as premium road service to your contract even if you verbally decline them. YOU MUST REVIEW YOUR CONTRACT BEFORE LEAVING THE COUNTER. If you don't review it and you find out only after the rental is complete, their "Customer Care" center will happily tell you no, they will not refund these charges (an extra $120 in my case), and "you should have read your contract".
