I was lied to twice by a Hertz representative recently at the Atlanta airport. I had reserved a compact car and was told I would be getting a Smart Car. She said she would upgrade me to a midsize for $10.00. I told her that I did not want a Smart Car so I agreed to the upgrade of $10.00. She left out the fact that the upgrade was $10.00 per day. ZERO stars is what I would give hertz if i could. Absolutely the worst service i have ever received from any business or company in my entire life. In an attempt to keep this on the shorter side I will try and get to the point. I rented a car in Chicago from hertz for less than 24 hours. They didn't have the car I booked so I settled for what they offered. On the way back to the airport at 1:30 in the morning I stop to get gas and the car stalls. Will NOT start. They keep giving me the run around and won't release my $500 hold. They keep saying it's my banks fault. I've called numerous times and asked for management and no return call. My bank and Hertz were on a 3 way call and they still blamed my bank for not releasing the money. I asked twice for a receipt and still can't get one. They are the worse
They don't even deserve the one star. This company is horrible and the guy hung up on me. They will require you to make a $500 deposit just so later they can add charges that come close. This company is will scam you for your money. I used the rental for one day and put the key in their drop box, now they are claiming they did not receive it for a total of four days. Camera's please!!
I should have read these reviews before booking with Hertz. They leave their customers at the St. Louis airport stranded and close. My flight was delayed and my info was included in my reservation so they knew they had open reservations when they closed and stranded a number of customers.
A big huge shout out to both Ali and manager, Michael F. at SFO Hertz counter. They totally saved me, when another rental car company messed up my reservation. They both spent well over an hour finding a car for me AND researched a bus to get me to my final destination. Incredibly caring individuals, kind, patient and helpful. And all at 10:00 at night after a long day. Thank you Hertz at SFO!
I booked a car through Priceline with hertz. They took the payment off my debit card. I get there to get my car. They tell me that I will have a $500 deposit. I said that's fine. Then ask me for my social security number. Run a credit check on me without ask my permission. Only to then explain that my credit score is too low for me to rent a car. I booked and paid for a car in Las Vegas. The initial pickup time had to be changed due to my flight being changed to an arrival later in the day. Called customer service, no problem. Upon arrival, I called the location where I was to pickup the car only to be told they didn't have a car. Having worked in the rental industry, I understand the local offices are often times just there to make sure the client provides the correct info, charge their card, and release the car so I don't fault the location at all. I was a Gold member until my last experience. I will never rent from them again. They slapped the OPTIONAL insurance coverage on my agreement WITHOUT ASKING AT THE CHECKOUT BOOTH (not the counter). This had never been my experience with Hertz before, so I didn't think to double-check the agreement before driving away. This has always been an OPT-IN OPTION, not an OPT-OUT OPTION. FRAUDULENT PRACTICE. SLEEZY. And the fact that no one would speak to me about it (they only correspond via email) is BAD CUSTOMER SERVICE.
