I just moved to CT and my home receives the paper from Hartford courant. I've called 4 times now to remove my house from the mailing list. Customer service hardly speaks English and doesn't take my privacy into consideration, I'm not sure what's so hard about stopping service, especially since this would save the company money. We have been customers for years. Now we are subscribed to Thursday and Sunday (they did away with Thursday through Sunday). Our Hartford Courant Box deteriorated years ago, but the Courant is no longer replacing boxes. Delivery has been an ongoing problem. So far this month we have not received two Thursday papers and two Sunday papers. When we call we are told that the paper will be delivered later that day or the next day, but it never is. The Hartford Courant's customer retainment processes are frustrating and illegal. In my experience, the company has made the ability to cancel a digital subscription via online account settings broken, forcing subscribers to have to call customer service and engage in a deceptive process that does not provide clear and valid offramps to cancel a subscription. What is most frustrating is the Courant's pretense of letting the customer think that a delivery problem will be solved. In reality, the Courant did nothing to solve our problem (no paper delivery). Struggling to report the problem is the first issue. Calling the Courant phone number results in a menu from which to choose. I chose "delivery problem" and was connected with a person in another country; THREE DIFFERENT TIMES, on three different days! The agents were polite, but unable to get my paper delivered. It's been about a week now with no delivery and perhaps one delivery made in the afternoon. It is frustrating that there is no one to talk to or any posting of known delivery problems. Customer Service just seems to be an offshore service with access to your account but has no idea what is going on otherwise and will not do anything but report a problem. Which has no benefit. I can report non-delivery online. There is just no way of knowing if or when delivery will resume. But, hey, they did just send me their bill on time!
Started subscription May 1, 2023. Paid up front. Since May 1 the paper has not been delivered at least 29 times. I've emailed the EDITOR of the paper several times and was assured the problem would be resolved immediately. We've called the customer support hot line for credits yet the problem continues. First of all the worst services ever. No Stars for the Hartford Courant. I had subscription in the past in the past and I canceled it for non-delivery and did not send me back the credit I was due. So I subscribed again like a fool hoping they got their s**t together, guess what I was wrong again. Starting July 1st my delivery stopped. I get the newspaper on Thursday and Sunday.
