This is one of the few large and affordable hotels in downtown Washington. It is located minutes from the National Mall, the U.S. Capitol and many museums and attractions. The very basic accommodations are clean and comfortable. The hotel welcomes group reservations. The suites are great for families.

If my daughter hadn't already been here on a school trip I wouldn't have booked it, but she said it was comfortable. The service was great, and value for money re location was fantastic. The rooms are very old, but the beds very comfortable. We had all we needed, and slept well. Couldn't really ask for more, from such an old hotel.
The hotel is old and the rooms are small but being located in the very centre of Washington DC you are not likely to be spending too much time in your room. The staff were friendly and most helpful and is the best value hotel in the best location. Food is fine for breakfast and if you do not want to eat dinner here then there are many local places a short walk away.
Many will complain about the outdated rooms but personally I love that the hotel has kept that 1950s look. The staff seem to have a family bond and they are very warm and welcoming. The hotel has two restaurants. One that serves breakfast and the other serves dinner. Only visit this hotel if you want to experience a bit of history. You'll appreciate it.
We stayed at The Hotel Harrington June 28 - July 5th. The Hotel is located between the White House and The Ford Theater and 2 blocks from the Mall. Within walking distance of several METRO stations. Three restaurants in the hotel. We had 4 people in our group and reserved a two bedroom suite, which allow each kid (16 and 13 years old) to have their own bed and we had two bathrooms for approximately $20.00 more than a 2 Queen bed room. We've been to D.C. many many many times -except for once we've stayed right at Hotel Harrington. Everything is right THERE for you. Step out of the hotels doors and take a right, with 15 seconds you are at the corner and ON Constitution Ave. If you take a left within 2-3 minutes you are at the Metro and can be anywheres else. The people who help to run this hotel are absolutely amazing. From the lady who checked us in (Charnee), to the bellman who helped us with our luggage and was always available with directions, and who even made a special trip up to our room with a list of local restaurants with no prompting ( Felipe), to our housekeeper Louise who oozed with Southern Charm and kept our room spotless, and the owner of the two restaurants onsite (David) who spent several minutes talking with us at our table during breakfast when he heard we ha... read more
I stayed here for one night to attend a concert at the Verizon Center which is within walking distance. There were also lots of restaurants within walking distance. The staff was friendly and helpful. The room was clean and a good size, and it didn't cost an arm and a leg. I would definitely recommend this hotel. One thing I would like to add-they don't provide shampoo, conditioner or body wash.
This is the only place to stay when in town. You are in the center of everything and can walk wherever. Employees are great, local restraunts are great too. Will definitely be coming here when back in town and reccommending to others.
We stayed at the Hotel Harrington on our stay in DC. It is centrally located to everything. Although it is the oldest hotel in DC, it was very clean. We could walk to a lot of things. It was just across the street from the Old Time Trolley. I wouldn't wanted to stay anywhere else.
