History Established in 1999. Opening in Jan 1999 The owner took a building built by J. Paul Getty and A.K.Warren who started Gypsy Oil Company and was one the biggest oil companies of its time. Thus the name Gypsy , after a burlesque dancer of the day Gypsy Rose Lee . Update: the manager has reached out to me personally and publicly to try remedy the experience we had as well as assured me the behavior of the employee does not reflect the way Gypsy treats their customers. Went in today. The girl who took our order was very rude. And then when I asked about my coffee 10+ minutes later she told me that it was "obviously not" ready yet.
