Going back again and again and again – Ther are no great steakhouses in Michigan so when I get a chance to get to Chi-town I always eat at Gibsons. From the steak to the service there is no better place than Gibsons, not only in Chicago but in my opinion the country. Price is no object for the quality.
IT WAS ALL AROUND GREAT!! FOOD WAS AWSOME. IT WAS A LITTLE PRICEY, BUT YOU GET WHAT YOU PAY FOR. WE WENT DURING THE WEEK, NO RESERVATIONS, AND DIDN'T HAVE TO WAIT. IT WAS GREAT!!!!!!!!!!!
Great Food! Slow Service. – We had a wonderful dinner - the steaks cooked to perfection - a chocolate mousse dessert that is bigger than baseball mit! We had reservations for 9:00 p.m. on a Friday night and were seated on time. The only draw back to this wonderful steakhouse is that it was so busy it took a while for our waiter to wait on us. Although, a manager stopped by to rectify the situation after asking us how we were doing. Overall, the great food was worth the wait.

Classic Steak House – We dined at Gibson's for the first time on Monday, October 27, 2003. We were very impressed with the friendliness of the front and bar staff and we loved the bar area! Lots of energy and the signature Gibson cocktail was great. Oysters were plump and juicy. The steak was very good, though not the best we've ever had. Service in the dining room was just ok. Side dishes were very good.
not a slow meal – it is kind of noisy, but for those used to chicago, san francisco and chicago that's okay. nice uniforms, but trousers need pressing and shoes shined.
Don't book ahead! – I booked a table for 2, a month in advance. When we got there, on time, we were told there was a 2 hour wait for a table - take it or leave it! Gibson's ruined my date, and is as pretentious as these establishments get.
Over rated! – For the price ($50 w/potato & salad), I expect a perfect Filet Mignon. It was just average. :( If you want a great steak go to Basilico Ristorante in Norridge.
Excellent – I had dinner for the first time at Gibson's after being told about it by friends for quite some time. I was not disappointed. The food and service was excellent (I had the 2lb lobster tail and it was incredible) and the atmosphere was very upbeat and fun (although crowded). It's not what you would call a romantic restaurant, but it's great for get togethers with friends and family. Try the absolutely incredible apple streudel for dessert. I am still thinking about it . . .
