Awful – Three out of the four steaks we ordered were overcooked. We were treated rudely and neglected by the server after sending a steak back to the kitchen. We were told it was wrong of us to send food back when a restaurant reviewer was in the building and left to feel that we owed them an apology. To top it all off, one of our diners was sick for the rest of the evening! This place doesn't deserve its reputation as one of the best steakhouses in the city.
Awesome Service and Very Good Food – I stopped here for a quick lunch during a day trip to Chicago and was pleasantly surprised. Gibson's is filled with very neat memorabilia all over the walls. There are hundreds of signed photo's of celeb's all over the place. The Service was phenominal. "Viagra Triangle" eatery = MEDIOCRE – If you are a 50 year old guy with a 20 year old girl.... step right up. You would fit in here. Steak is ok. Lobster was overcooked. Stuffy and pretentious.
Best service in the U.S. – Gibson's is what I expect of a traditional American/Steakhouse restaurant. Friendly people, hearty food, good music, and good service. For my visit, I chose to eat at the bar since I was travelling solo for business. The bartender made excellent recommendations and all the patrons around me knew him and greeted him as if he were their brother. Excellent Service and Food – I travel to Chicago frequently for business and I always make sure I visit Gibson's at least once. Gibson's has some of the best service that I have seen in a long time and the food is always fresh and well prepared. It is an absolute must to bring one of their wonderful desserts home to my husband. I couldn't recommend this place enough.
I would defenitely go back there – I was VERY happy with Gibson's. I needed a restaurant that was open on Saturday afternoon for dinner prior to an early evening event. When we arrived we were seated immediately and troughout our meal we received exceptional service. We informed one of our waiters that we were on a schedule. Don't go for the steak – Out of town visitor who has eaten at Gibsons 3 times (1 north 2 rush) and enjoyed all 3...although not because of the steak. Great atmosphere which is so typically Chicago in that it's noisy and fast with very open and vibrant people. The side dishes are great but the quality of the steak is only marginal even though it has always been cooked well. This is a geat bar, but not a great fine dining restaurant so just go for the right reasons and enjoy the visit.
Highly recommended – I went to Gibson's for the first time recently and will definitely be back. Service was exceptional despite how busy it was. Food was terrific - my boyfriend had their signature steak and loved it more than steaks he's had at the Chicago Chop House.
Disappointment – Gibson's steak house holds a reputation for one of Chicago's best steakhouses. Maybe I was there on an off night, but I could not disagree more. Large portions is all they seem to be known for! The steak was average.. I have had way better. The food was average.. nothing to write home about. I was disappointed and won't be going back.
