Must See – Along with the Tavern on Rush and the bar at the top of the Lakeshore Towers this is one of the few places I must go everytime I come to Chicago. Which is about 6 times a year. This is definately a must hit.
Best in Chicago? – A group of us ordered various steak selections. Although the meat was good quality, four of the five were not cooked correctly . . . not what you'd expect for the price and reputation. Side dishes were good, staff friendly (and good looking hostess), and a great bar. I am glad we had reservations . . . even with reservations, we waited. Ii would not have been worth the wait without reservations!
Big & Juicy but Pricey – Everything is great- the drinks (The martinis!), the steaks - (big & juicy),the starters, the sides...and the service is terrific. But if you happen to have room for dessert, go somewhere else. Why do they fall down here? We have tried the Banana Pie-no flavor at all and then some giant Chocolate thing-another disspointment (and I always love chocolate!) Then the last bomb to drop: the bill. We would visit more often if our dinner bill for 2 wasnt always $250+...
OverRated – This place is Over Rated!!, for the price, I'd expect the best meat I've ever had, but no, it wasen't
A real Chicago experience – Chicago is known for it's steak houses so why not visit the best? Friendly waiters dressed in white jackets bring out a display of fine cuts with an expressive explaination of each. The Steak and Lobster is so sweet and soft that it melts in your mouth. Try the upper level for more private dining or bring a party of 10 on the first level and allow 2 waiters to cater to your every need.
Guru's for Gibson's – My girlfriends & I had a wonderful dining experience at Gibson's while visiting in June. The service was excellent, as well as the food and atmosphere. Next time I am in the Windy City I will be making another trip to Gibson's for sure!
OVER RATED!!!! – I have eaten at Gibson's about 12 times in the past 2 years. So I can honestly say this joint is past it's expiration date. Chewy and over cooked lobster tails is the norm, artificial whipped cream is every where, and service tends to suffer most of the time that I have eaten there.
Yes it really is! – Yes it really is all that Chicagoans say it is! From the "social martinis" to the mouthwatering 5 pound lobster tails, the beautiful "marble artwork" you are shown before you devour your juicy (if you want it cooked the correct way that is) steak and even up to the quarter of a cake you WILL order, the trip to Gibson's IS all that it is made out to be. Juicy steaks -loud room – The food is very good and big. The room is very noisy -don't go if its a first date. The bone in rib eye medium is the signature dish. Save room for the turtle pie. Only downside is the long wait and loud crowd.
