I recently discovered a problem with our GE Microwave (GE 1.7 CF OVER-THE-COUNTER MICROWAVE OVEN HVM1750DP1BB) which I consider a fire hazard. Leaving the surface light on, I noticed the floor of the oven so hot that it melted the enamel and would burn skin if touched. I have notified the CPSC and they have notified the manufacturer. We purchased stack-able washer/dryer units 3 years ago. In March 2018, the locking mechanism of the washer broke, locking our clothes inside our washer. We spent $100 to have somebody come out to open our door, and have spent the last nearly 5 months waiting for a back ordered part to be delivered to our house. GE Microwave almost set my house on fire. Over the range unit was starting fires inside the unit. Caused 1,000 damage to my cabinets. GE sent a replacement unit but couldn't be installed because of damage prior unit caused to cabinets. GE's own technician reported the scorch marks to GE on wall and cabinet. Had a GE frontload washer for 10 years that broke its bearing mount. Thought it was a pretty good run so I bought a new one. After waiting 2 weeks to get the thing delivered from Lowes , it lasted 2 weeks.. Then it would not go into spin cycle. This left the clothes so saturated it could distroy a dryer. I would rate this a negative star!!! The glass in my oven exploded. I talked with Customer Relations and said I had to buy the part that was it. They also said I would not have to pay for the home visit or labor. When the tech. came to repair he would not do the repairs until I paid the labor fee. I would not pay the labor fee and spent over an hour and a half talking to Costumer Relations. They said I have to pay the labor fee, even after the first conversation they said I didn't. AVOID AT ALL COSTS: I bought a new GE dryer that leaked natural gas from day one. Xcel (local utility in Denver) inspected it and said it was a major safety hazard and had been installed with the wrong materials. Three months later, GE has send its tech three times and it still doesn't work. The store won't do a refund or an exchange, and even refused to help moving and installing another dryer to get us through until the tech can come out the fourth time. What an absolute waste of money I spent on your 8000 BTU window AC unit....it hardly even cools my 140 sq ft living room but is advertised to cool 250-300 sq ft. And it's so freaking loud I can't even hear myself think. Useless piece of crap....never buying another GE product
In December of 2017 a suite of GE appliances were installed in my remodeled kitchen. This included a dishwasher, double oven, refrigerator and cooktop. The refrigerator has begun trying to be a freezer. Temp is set for 40 fridge reads 30 degrees. Called for service, the person that came out did not have what was needed to run diagnostics on the refrigerator but it's been ordered.
