We took the 11 day Scandanavia tour. This was our 7th trip with Gate 1 (5 escorted). I have to say the guide was the worst we ever had. She (Annette) was unorganized, unknowlegeable, unprofessional, and unfriendly. We never received name tags, we received our Luggage tags 2 days before the end of the trip. Usually every trip when we get back we get a survey from gate one but not this trip. Probably had so many complaints they didn't want to deal with it. I have taken several trips to Europe and other countries,but this time I decided to go with Gate 1 enchanting Italy tour ,11 days. Although I had gone to Italy 10 years ago,I went this time with my grandaughter. It was the most wonderful and memorable trip I have ever taken. Gate one gets you the best hotels and tours .Our tour manager Andrea Blassi was the most courteous, friendliest tour manager I have ever experience. I am extremely disappointed with Gate 1. I am currently on a trip with them and I have an urgent matter to discuss with them. They are completely ignoring my emails and the situation has continued. I have used them twice before without any problems, but this is unacceptable.
I am writing a review simply based on the fact that there are several negative comments here. I have been travelling with Gate 1 for about 3 years now and I absolutely love them. Every tour I have done has been magical to say the least. So far I have completed the 9 Day Classic Ecuador & Amazon Adventure, 8 Day Classic Greece, 6 Day Iceland's Northern Lights, 13 Day Kasbahs & Deserts of Morocco, and 10 Day Affordable Peru. Awful customer service. Webhave an upcoming trip to Italy in November that needs changed slightly as one of the people is not coming anymore. The call center has been uninformed and above all RUDE. We will never use again.
My wife and I just concluded our trip to Ecuador. It was, by far, the best vacation we've had in a long time. Our guide, Jose, was top notch. He was very knowledgeable, very understanding, very kind and patient. We thoroughly enjoyed the locations we visited, from the lower elevations to the upper elevations. I have just completed the river cruise from Prague to Budapest which included........ 3 nights in the fabulous Hotel Imperial in Prague 7 nights aboard the new Gate 1 Monach Princess ship 2 nights at Hilton Budapest. Also included...... excellent City tours with very knowledgeable local guides. Optional tours. On board activitues. 14 day China with river cruise. Amazing. All of our guides were excellent, knowledgeable, kind, considerate, fun. Especially our lead guide Frank. And all of their English was great. I would recommend this to anyone. It is a once in a life time trip. You are very very busy. But you don't miss a thing -panda, great Wall, forbidden city, beautiful mountains, Shangai's skyline, history, music, dancing. It's a wonderful trip.
