Fantastic Caverns

About this business

If the kids are bored with the video games and are yearning for something far from the ordinary, travel 35 minutes north of Branson to this spectacular underground chamber. Discovered in 1862 by a farmer's dog, these huge caverns are filled with stalactites and stalagmites. All tours take place on a guided jeep-pulled tram in order to preserve the natural features and each tour lasts about an hour. The underground temperature remains at or near 60 degrees, so dress appropriately.

This took about an hour to go through on the tour which was by car so no walking all those steps you usually have in caverns! It was hot outside so the nice 60 degree temperature felt so good. The history behind how it was discovered and used over the years very interesting. They have nice items on display inside building by gift shop!

It's expensive. 1 mile round trip ride. Couldn't really understand what the guide was saying half the time. He kept talking while another tram went through. Drove past a list of names too fast to read them then asked if we noticed anything about the names. I barely had time to read the date written above the names. Beautiful cavern. Not worth the price.

08/20/19: Heat advisory in MO so we decided to go to Fantastic Caverns to beat the heat. So glad we did! This is a family owned business which is very reasonable on its prices. Gift shop jewelry and souvenirs are priced to buy, popcorn and soda/water $1.00 - can't be beat. Tour guide Chandlis very cordial and knowledgeable. Big surprise at the end of the tour that was very welcome and left you feeling good (I will not spoil the surprise). The trip was very worth it! p.s. it kept our four year old interested for the 55 minute... read more
