Fantastic Caverns

4.7

About this business

If the kids are bored with the video games and are yearning for something far from the ordinary, travel 35 minutes north of Branson to this spectacular underground chamber. Discovered in 1862 by a farmer's dog, these huge caverns are filled with stalactites and stalagmites. All tours take place on a guided jeep-pulled tram in order to preserve the natural features and each tour lasts about an hour. The underground temperature remains at or near 60 degrees, so dress appropriately.

very nice outing Fantastic Caverns provides a safe, easy, and scare-free way for children to be introduced to caves. As everyone rides in trams, parents don't have to worry about their children wandering off and they don't have to carry their children throughout the cave if they get tired. The cave is well-lit which helps children who might be afraid of the dark feel better. The tour guides are friendly and informative and their is a place on the ceiling where people are allowed to touch to feel the mineral water. The gift sh... read more

Costly, but really cool. This is a great way to spend an afternoon. We love to go on short trips to do fun things that are indiginous to the area and we found Fantastic Caverns doing just that. Its slightly outside of Springfield so you don't have to drive very far to get there. It is pretty pricey at upwards of $18 per person, however, it is worth it to save up and go. My seven year old loves it. You actually ride through the cave instead of walking and it takes about an hour. There is a gift shop and small museum with pict... read more

A Ride-Through Cave Tour for Young and Old Fantastic Caverns is not a walk-through cave tour. Instead, visitors ride in wagons (or trams) with seats pulled by a clean-burning propane-powered jeep. This serves a dual purpose in that it keeps people's hands away from doing more damage to the cavern walls as well as making it easy for those who can't walk that well and who have young children to go on the tour. Fantastic Caverns was discovered in 1862 by a farmer's dog. He waited five years before he told anyone about it, feari... read more

Amazing sites This is America's only drive-through cavern tour. It is 50 minutes long, and you get to see so many fantastic sites. They will even allow you to touch the ceiling over your head when you first enter the cave, so that you are less likely to touch other parts of the cave where things are more delicate. If you live in the area see if your school will do a field trip here, they offer a classes down in the cave where the kids get to experience some history first hand. They have some really wonderous thing in the cav... read more

Ride through this cave! This is the only ride-through cave in the country! They have guided tours that follow an ancient underground riverbed filled with amazing cave formations. The cave stays a cool 60F year-round, so it's a great summer afternoon jaunt. In addition, you ride and never walk, so it's especially great for parents with small children, seniors and handicapped visitors. There is an admission charge but it's worth it because this cave is great to see, and it's even better that you don't have to hike through it!

We had an amazing time! Four adults, one child, and two dogs and we all loved it. Our tour guide was stellar and she was funny. Our dogs thoroughly enjoyed the tour and all the attention. Wishing we got the season pass because we will be back!
