Disappointing. – I saw an ad for $118 for a facial and a massage. I called up and asked how long was each. The receptionist stated each was an hour. I signed up for the special package. The place was a madhouse. The clients felt at liberty to speak loudly throughout the entire spa. The facial lasted 40 minutes. The massage lasted 45 minutes. Downhill – I started going to Dorit Baxter about 5 years ago. Their facials are pretty spartan, but are still reasonably priced, although I now go to Janet Sartin or Paul Labreque (and for a treat Cornelia). They have a few massage therapists who are fabulous, but others a quite average (I now go to Peninsula and Paul Labreque - and of course Cornelia if I can treat myself). A Cure for Sore Feet – After 10 weeks holidaying in the US during which time I travelled coast to coast as well as practically walking the length and breadth of Manhattan my feet were in very poor condition. Great Experience - Now my Spa – I went on a Saturday afternoon to Dorit Baxter's Spa to receive a massage and was immediately impressed. The employees who greeted me at the front desk were helpful and courteous. P.J. was my masseuse and the massage room was comfortable and serene. amazing time – i feel like we found a secret getaway in the middle of nyc. me and my girlfriends went to dorit baxter spa together to enjoy a 'half day of beauty'. our time there was amazing -- the services were very high quality and the prices were even better. we especially enjoyed our facials -- our facialsts werent pushy and were very friendly, our skin looked bright and fresh afterwards. the massages and salt scrubs were also an AMAZING combo leaving our skin silky and smooth!
terrible spa experience – i went here during spa week for a 60 minute facial which ended up taking 1 1/2 hours . the lady Dori ( who i believe is the owner) did my facial, was very unorganized , left the room 2 times to look for products to use on my face, left a mask on my face for 50 minutes while she went into the room next door to give someone else their spa service, she completely forgot about me. i feel the facial itself was very below average. my skin looks and feels no different than before i went. it was a total was... read more
The best spa in NY – My 1st experience was when my friend got a gift certificate for a hot stone massage. It was so relaxing! The staff was very curtious, personable & professional. The next time I decided to take my boyfriend for a relaxing Sunday afternoon. He had the hot stone massage and I the Derma facial. Great bridal party – Dorit Baxter Day Spa made my day! Before I got married last month, my bridal party surprised me to a day of pampering at the spa. We were a group of 10 girls and we had such a great time! We all had different treatments and they made sure that we started and finished around the same time. The BEST Experience! – My husband and I had the best experience ever! I took him to the spa for our one year anniversary and had the Love Bird package. The couples massage was amazing and one of the best massages weve ever had. My facialist was so nice and gentle with my skin. I was so pleased with the front desk and how organized they were.
