Many believe that Abe Doumar, founder of Doumar's Cones & Barbecue, gave the world its first ice cream cone. Doumar was a traveling salesman retailing paperweights at the famous St. Louis World's Fair in 1904. When an ice cream seller exhausted his stock of paper dishes to hold the ice creams, he got a nearby waffle maker to roll his waffles into cones and thus invented the waffle cone. Great sandwiches and even better ice cream! Fries could have been better. Crispier maybe. But all in all it's adorable and had great food!

That's right a blast from the past what our treat this places reminds me of a simpler time. The place is full of nostalgia from the carhops till the food they serve. After all this is the place where ice cream cones were invented the waffle cone. It doesn't get any better than that it's truly Norfolk history and a Gem.
