Horrible. I have had SO MANY problems with this company and NEVER want to fix anything. They send workers in that "fix" then falls apart. Nail holes EVERYWHERE from trim falling. ALL trim falling off. Mildew in bathroom and under my sink. Been leaking. Probably under my cabinets now. All my cupboards falling apart. They DO not respond and have MASSIVE attitudes and RUDE. I would gladly choose a -10 as the rating if I could because Clayton Homes is AWFUL! This was not the experience that I wanted to go through as a first-time homebuyer. My current apartment lease ends on June 30th, and I decided it was time to get a home rather than pay rent. I have been in the same apartment in Lynchburg, Virginia for over five years. Don't buy a trailer from this dealer if you live in Davidson County. They took the trailer away that we had made a down payment on because Davidson county was taking too long with the building permit. We were told that as long as things were moving forward that the house would be held. We're moving as fast as we can but when every service is backed up 6-12 weeks because of COVID it's hard. We took a deposit from you in August of last year, and informed you that you would need to get the permits in Davidson county. 8 months have passed and our retail location still does not have the needed permits to deliver the house.
Stay clear of anything Clayton built! We found a home we wanted, the dealer sold it from underneath us. We went to another dealer and they said they could build the exact same home. We told the gal that we wanted the Freedom 415 W/8' Cathedral ceilings and the under cabinet lighting. She said they could do just that. Told us that if we wanted that package we had to give our money down by a certain date. We gave them our money down. Let me start with stay away from Clayton homes. I bought my home in 2010 and had problems with the home and service from day one. Now we are remodeling the home and my husband is an experienced carpenter, we have found the walls are out of plum by an inch in 6 feet, that's bad, we have had a crack in the ceiling and have found that the edge of the sheet rock is not even nailed to anything. If I could give 0 stars I would. Horrible customer service, if they do fix what I wrong with your home it will be unprofessional and crappy work. Andrea that works at the Lancaster, SC ******* homes is unprofessional and extremely rude. She never responds to any complaints. Please save yourself and don't buy a Clayton's home.

Clayton homes from Chillicothe Ohio has made buying a home from there a nightmare! We hired our own contractor because he was cheaper than who they wanted to use but now apparently our contractor didn't do work to their liking. Of course they keep saying we owe them more money every time there is a problem. Poor quality home. Bought brand new in November 2019- poor quality/cheap carpet, kitchen appliances, bathroom fixtures, kitchen island, and cupboards. All items listed have either stopped working properly, or look 10+ years old already. For what you pay for these homes it should not already be showing this much wear. I would not recommend a purchase of one of these homes.

My issues are not necessarily with Clayton Homes. It is more with the contractor that they hired to do the work for me. I have had nothing but issues with this company and unfortunately it is Clayton homes that hired them and can not get them to do the work the right way. I have been having issues with my awning that I spent $5500.00 on. The contractors did not screw some pieces down so the wind blew them up and tore the awning all apart.
